  • Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Tossing live BP

Hurt (elbow) threw a live batting-practice session Monday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. Hurt saw action at Triple-A Oklahoma City down the stretch of the regular season, and the fact that he's getting work ahead of Tuesday's Game 1 of the National League Wild Card Series against Cincinnati may mean he's being considered for postseason play. Clarity on whether Hurt will be active for the series will come closer to first pitch Tuesday.

  • Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Wraps up strong rehab stint

Hurt (elbow) pitched a perfect inning in relief for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, finishing a seven-appearance minor-league rehab stint during which he posted a 1.93 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 10:5 K:BB over 9.1 innings. Hurt underwent Tommy John surgery last July, so his ability to get into more than a handful of contests at the end of this season is a big positive in itself. The right-hander fared pretty well overall during his rehab assignment, which has come to its conclusion with the end of the Triple-A campaign Sunday. At this point it's unclear if the Dodgers are considering activating Hurt for a final-week look in the big-league bullpen, though the team's relief corps has been pretty shaky of late, so such a decision isn't unfeasible.

  • Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Beginning assignment Tuesday

Hurt (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. Hurt has been on the injured list all season while working his way back from Tommy John surgery. He began throwing off a mound back in May and threw live batting practice to Dodgers hitters ahead of Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks. It's unclear exactly how long the Dodgers plan to keep the 27-year-old in the minors, but he will presumably require a handful of rehab appearances before being cleared to return to Los Angeles.

  • Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Progresses to bullpen sessions

Hurt (elbow) recently began throwing bullpen sessions at the Dodgers' complex in Arizona, MLB.com reports. The progression to throwing bullpens represents a significant step for Hurt in his recovery from Tommy John surgery. The procedure took place last July, so Hurt isn't certain to make it back to pitching in big-league games this season, a return from the 60-day injured list in September isn't out of the question.

  • Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Throwing off mound

Hurt (elbow) has resumed throwing off a mound but hasn't yet progressed to full bullpen sessions, per MLB.com. Hurt is making gradual progress from the Tommy John surgery he underwent last July. If he continues to proceed without any setbacks, he could return to the big-league club near the end of the campaign, but that's not a guarantee given the nature of his procedure.

  • Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Moves to 60-day IL

The Dodgers transferred Hurt (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for outfielder Esteury Ruiz, who was acquired via trade Wednesday. Hurt's move to the 60-day IL won't affect his timeline for his return, as he's working his way back from Tommy John surgery and won't be available until late this season even in a best-case scenario.

  • Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Undergoing Tommy John surgery

Hurt will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery on his right elbow Tuesday, Noah Kamras of DodgersNation.com reports. Triple-A Oklahoma City transferred Hurt from its 7-day injured list to its 60-day IL on Monday, and now the reason for that move has been revealed. More clarity on a timetable should be available following the operation, but there's a good chance Hurt won't be an option for the Dodgers until the 2026 season. The 26-year-old has tossed 8.2 innings and allowed one earned run at the major-league level across two seasons and boasts a 36.3 percent strikeout rate in four minor-league seasons.

  • Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Activated from IL, optioned

The Dodgers activated Hurt (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports. Hurt was originally placed on the 15-day injured list April 20 with right shoulder inflammation, but he was transferred to the 60-day IL one week later. He began his rehab assignment with Oklahoma City on June 6, and over his eight minor-league appearances, he's given up five runs on seven hits and 10 walks while striking out 16 over nine frames. To make room for Hurt on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred Max Muncy (oblique) to the 60-day injured list Friday.

  • Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Approaching rehab assignment

Hurt (shoulder) is slated to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. Hurt has been out since landing on the injured list April 20 due to right shoulder inflammation. He was eventually transferred to the 60-day injured list and isn't eligible to be activated until June 16. The right-hander will likely need to make several rehab appearances before he's deemed ready to return to the big club. He got into three games for the Dodgers prior to his injury, allowing one earned run while posting a 3:1 K:BB over 6.2 innings.

  • Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Moves to 60-day IL

The Dodgers transferred Hurt (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Saturday. Hurt has been on the injured list since April 20 due to right shoulder inflammation, and his move to the 60-day IL ensures he will be out until at least mid-June. Nabil Crismatt was selected from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take Hurt's place on the 40-man roster.

  • Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Lands on IL

The Dodgers placed Hurt (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to April 17. Hurt was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday and pitched two shutout innings in the Dodgers' 6-2 win over the Nationals. He's posted a 1.35 ERA and 1.35 WHIP over 6.2 innings in the majors this season while recording three strikeouts. In a corresponding move, the Dodgers recalled Nick Ramirez from Triple-A Sacramento.

  • Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Completes two innings

Hurt threw two shutout innings as the Dodgers' opener on Tuesday against the Nationals. He allowed three hits and did not walk or strike out a batter. Hurt was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma to start Tuesday's game and managed to work through two scoreless frames. The Nationals opened up the game with three straight hits but did not score after CJ Abrams was thrown out at home on a Jesse Winker double. Hurt has now given up two runs (one earned) while striking out three in 6.2 major-league innings this year.

  • Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Recalled, starting Tuesday

Hurt was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City and will start Tuesday against the Nationals, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Hurt has given up one earned run across 6.2 career MLB innings, and Tuesday will mark his first time starting a big-league game. The 25-year-old righty has made two starts in Triple-A this season but has only been stretched out to roughly 45 pitches, so he could struggle to work deep enough into Tuesday's outing to qualify for a win. Ryan Yarbrough is expected to serve in bulk relief once Hurt is removed from the game.

  • Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Optioned to Triple-A

Hurt was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Hurt opened the 2024 campaign on the major-league roster, appearing in two contests prior to being sent down Sunday. The right hander allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk while striking out three batters over 4.2 innings, and he'll likely earn another shot with the Dodgers relatively soon. In a corresponding move, Nabil Crismatt will replace Hurt in the team's bullpen for the time being.

  • Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Likely to work in bullpen

Manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Hurt has a "very good possibility" of being a relief option for the Dodgers during the season-opening series against the Padres in South Korea, which begins Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. The 25-year-old has prepped as a starter during spring training and is still viewed as one long term, but he could help Los Angeles in relief to begin the season. Hurt's inclusion on the roster for South Korea doesn't necessarily mean he'll retain that spot once the Dodgers return stateside, but it could give him a chance to show why he should stick in the majors.

  • Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Gets call to big-league bullpen

The Dodgers selected Hurt's contract from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Hurt will bring a whole lot of swing-and-miss stuff with him as he arrives in the majors for the first time at age 25. He's expected to work out of the bullpen, possibly in a multi-inning role, and could be a consideration for the postseason roster if he performs well. The righty had posted a 3.87 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 145:41 K:BB in 88.1 innings (16 starts, nine relief appearances) this summer between Double-A and Triple-A.

  • Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Strikeout rate over 40 percent

Hurt, 25, has a 3.99 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and a 98:24 K:BB in 56.1 innings for Double-A Tulsa. Hurt's 40.5 percent strikeout rate and 30.6 percent K-BB% are second this year for Double-A pitchers behind only organizational mate Emmet Sheehan. Granted, Hurt is 18 months older than Sheehan and unlike Sheehan, he is still at Double-A, but he has good stuff in his own right, with an upper-90s fastball, plus changeup and quality slider.
