  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Contributes four runs in win

Clement went 2-for-3 with a two-run double, two runs scored and a steal during the Blue Jays' 5-1 win over the Rays on Saturday. Clement got the Blue Jays on the board early with a two-run double off Joe Boyle in the second inning before crossing home plate one batter later. Clement got on base for a second time in the fifth, and after successfully stealing second base, he was brought home on a Nathan Lukes single to give Toronto a 4-0 lead. Since Sept. 1, Clement has slashed .286/.321/.416 with two steals, 14 runs, 10 doubles and nine RBI across 82 plate appearances.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Drives in three runs

Clement went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored in Sunday's win against the Orioles. Clement knocked a two-run double in the fourth inning and later added an RBI single in the seventh. It was his second straight game with multiple hits and the third such performance in his last five appearances. Clement improved his season slash line to .279/.314/.400 with 41 extra-base hits over 542 plate appearances.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Not starting Saturday

Clement isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees. Clement went 1-for-4 with an RBI during a win in Friday's series opener and will now retreat to the bench while Isiah Kiner-Falefa picks up a start at the hot corner, batting seventh.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Clement is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds. Clement started the past two games after missing some time due to a hairline finger fracture and a shin laceration, and he'll get a breather after going 2-for-8 with an RBI and a run. Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who was claimed off waivers over the weekend, will make his season debut for Toronto at third base.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Rejoining lineup Sunday

Clement (finger/shin) will start at third base and bat sixth Sunday against the Brewers. Clement was held out of the starting nine the past couple days due to a hairline finger fracture and a laceration to his left shin, but he's ready to rejoin the lineup for Sunday's series finale. The 29-year-old's average has dipped in August as he's batting .247 in 24 games, though he still has a .729 OPS this month thanks to four home runs.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: On bench Friday

Clement (finger/shin) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Milwaukee. Clement was diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his left middle finger and received 10 stitches in his left shin after a collision at third base during Tuesday's game. Despite missing Friday's lineup, Clement is still considered day-to-day as his return will depend upon his pain tolerance. Addison Barger will slot in at third base Friday.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Day-to-day with hairline fracture

Clement has been diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his left middle finger and also received 10 stitches in his left shin as a result of a collision at third base in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Twins, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports. Clement is out of the lineup for Wednesday's series finale, but he's considered day-to-day, and the Blue Jays have no current plans to put him on the 10-day injured list. The belief is that Clement won't do any further damage by playing through the finger injury, so his availability will come down to a matter of pain tolerance. Addison Barger will start at third base Wednesday in place of Clement, who could return to action for the weekend series with the Brewers following Thursday's team off day.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Taking seat Wednesday

Clement is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Pittsburgh. Clement will get a rare day off after having started every game for the Blue Jays since July 11. Addison Barger will cover third base for Toronto in Wednesday's matinee.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Comes up with clutch homer

Clement went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Dodgers. Clement went yard for the third time in four games. His homer came in the ninth inning, just after the Blue Jays' bullpen coughed up a 4-3 lead, and Clement's long ball ended up being the difference in the game. The infielder has hit .333 (26-for-78) over his last 18 games, and with the recent power uptick, he appears to have shaken off the quiet stretch that defined his early July. For the season, Clement is at a .289/.323/.413 slash line with eight homers, 36 RBI, 63 runs scored, three stolen bases, 23 doubles and two triples over 117 contests.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Goes yard in four-hit effort

Clement went 4-for-7 with a double, a solo home run and four total runs scored in Wednesday's rout of the Rockies. His ninth-inning shot off position player Austin Nola gave Clement his sixth homer of the season. The 29-year-old utility player took full advantage of a trip to Coors Field, going 9-for-18 with four extra-base hits and seven runs scored, as the Blue Jays set an MLB record for hits (63) and a franchise record for runs (45) over the three-game series. Through 433 plate appearances this year, Clement has a career-best .290 batting average and .325 OBP while adding three steals, 34 RBI and 61 runs.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Tallies five hits in blowout

Clement went 5-for-6 with a double, a triple, three runs and an RBI in a 15-1 victory against the Rockies on Monday. Clement's first career five-hit game included a double and triple as he fell just a homer short of the cycle. The veteran infielder has now posted four multi-hit performances over his past six games and is batting a scorching .500 (12-for-24) during that span. Clement hasn't produced enough in the way of speed or power (five homers, three thefts over 112 games) to be a must-roster fantasy option, but he's been a solid table setter for Toronto with a .289 batting average and 57 runs scored on the season.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Extends hit streak to nine games

Clement went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Wednesday's win over Arizona. The 29-year-old infielder hit safely for the ninth straight game, a stretch in which Clement is batting a blistering .410 (16-for-39) with four doubles, a solo homer and seven total runs scored. With injuries piling up in the Blue Jays' outfield, Addison Barger is needed in right field, allowing Clement to start five of the last six games at third base. Given the way he's swinging the bat however, manager John Schneider would be finding ways to get him in the lineup even if there wasn't a regular spot available for Clement.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: In lineup Friday

Clement (lower body) is batting fifth and playing third base Friday against Philadelphia. Manager John Schneider said Wednesday that Clement was dealing with a lower-body injury, and after a team off day Thursday, Clement is back in the starting nine. He has a hit in six of his last seven games, going 9-for-30 (.300) with three doubles and a home run during that stretch.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Logs four hits Friday

Clement went 4-for-5 with a double, a solo home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 11-7 win over the Athletics. Clement came around to score in the second inning on a Myles Straw RBI single before belting a solo home run off Jeffrey Springs in the third. Clement has gone deep in back-to-back games and has logged all three of his home runs this season in May. He has slashed .298/.343/.457 with one steal and 12 RBI in 104 plate appearances since the beginning of May.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Homers, drives in five

Clement went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and a two-run double in Thursday's 12-0 win over the A's. All five of Clement's RBI came in Toronto's eight-run second inning. He opened the scoring with a homer off Jacob Lopez, his second of the season, before driving in two more runs with a double in his second at-bat in the frame. Clement had gone 14 games without an extra-base hit prior to Thursday -- he went 8-for-46 (.174) with a .443 OPS in that span. Overall, the 29-year-old infielder is slashing .256/.301/.344 with 16 RBI, 17 runs scored and two stolen bases across 176 plate appearances this year. Clement should continue to serve as the Jays' primary second baseman in the absence of Andres Gimenez (quadriceps).

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Not in Friday's lineup

Clement is not in the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Tigers. Clement had started each of the previous seven tilts at second base but will take a seat for Friday's series opener. Michael Stefanic is at the keystone and batting eighth for the Blue Jays.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Swats home run in loss

Clement went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Tuesday's loss to the Rays. Clement led off the bottom of the seventh with a solo home run for his first homer of the season. He's now registered at least a hit in seven straight games and has 10 hits in his last 20 at-bats. Clement's recent excellent play has raised his average over 50 points in the last week, as he's slashing .275/.302/.367 with eight extra-base hits, eight RBI, 11 runs, two steals and a 5:19 BB:K in 118 plate appearances.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Three hits against M's

Clement went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in Sunday's win over the Mariners. The 29-year-old utility player has started four straight games at second base since Andres Gimenez (quadriceps) landed on the IL, and Clement has gone an impressive 8-for-16 during that span with a steal, two RBI and three runs. All eight hits have been singles however, and he's still looking for his first homer of 2025 after launching 12 in 139 games last season. With Addison Barger also heating up while getting regular run at third base and offering a lot more upside in an everyday role, Clement could have a hard time finding consistent at-bats once Gimenez returns.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Beginning to lose playing time

Clement is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians. Clement will take a seat for the second game in a row and could be moving into more of a part-time role against right-handed pitching while the Blue Jays look to open up more playing time at third base for Addison Barger, who draws the start Sunday. Barger is capable of playing the corner outfield as well, so Clement could see his opportunities against right-handed pitching pick up if he performs well enough to warrant more at-bats. Clement has thus far offered little to get excited about for fantasy purposes, slashing just .225/.259/.275 with zero home runs and one steal over 86 plate appearances on the season.

  • Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Resting Saturday

Clement isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Guardians. Clement will get a day off Saturday after making four consecutive starts, during which he went 3-for-14 with a run scored. Addison Barger will fill in at the hot corner and bat sixth.
