  • Yunior Severino: Cut by Minnesota

The Twins released Severino on Tuesday. Severino clubbed 56 home runs over the previous two seasons between Double-A Wichita and Triple-A St. Paul, but he's slashed just .196/.344/.324 with two long balls and a 35.2 percent strikeout rate with St. Paul in 2025. He's still just 25 years old and has big raw power, so Severino shouldn't have trouble getting a shot in a new organization.

  • Twins' Yunior Severino: Returns from oblique injury

Severino (oblique) was activated from the 7-day injured list at Triple-A St. Paul. He had been off to a slow start before the injury as he's hitting just .221/.338/.294 with no home runs in 21 games.

  • Yunior Severino: Back in Minnesota on MiLB deal

The Twins re-signed Severino to a minor-league contract Monday. The 25-year-old was booted from the Twins' 40-man roster earlier this month but is now back in the organization on a minor-league pact. Severino slashed .254/.342/.434 with 21 homers over 128 games in 2024 with Triple-A St. Paul and will likely return there to start next season.

  • Twins' Yunior Severino: Optioned to Triple-A

The Twins optioned Severino to Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday. Severino nabbed a 40-man roster spot this winter but will head back to St. Paul for more seasoning. The 24-year-old has plenty of power but might need to rein in the strikeouts before the Twins give him a look.

  • Twins' Yunior Severino: Contract selected

The Twins selected Severino's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Monday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Severino had been set for minor-league free agency but instead is now on the Twins' 40-man roster. The move doesn't come as a surprise after the 24-year-old slashed .272/.352/.546 with 35 home runs between Double-A Wichita and St. Paul in 2023. Severino has primarily played second and third base in the minors.

  • Twins' Yunior Severino: Up to 35 homers

Severino has hit .272 with 35 home runs in 120 games across stops at Double-A and Triple-A this season. A former middle infielder, Severino is now a power-hitting corner infielder, splitting time at Triple-A primarily between first base and third base. His 36.1 percent hart-hit rate, 12.2 percent soft-hit rate and 113.1 mph max exit velocity are elite marks, but Severino's 36.6 percent strikeout rate at Triple-A is a pretty big red flag. The Twins will need to add him to the 40-man roster this offseason if they want to protect the switch hitter from the Rule 5 draft.
