  • Mets' Huascar Brazoban: Sent to Syracuse

The Mets optioned Brazoban to Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports. Earlier Wednesday, Brazoban underwent an MRI on his sore side, but with imaging coming back negative, the reliever has been optioned to the minors rather than being placed on the 15-day injured list. Kevin Herget was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to replace Brazoban on the active roster and in the bullpen.

  • Mets' Huascar Brazoban: Demoted to Triple-A

The Mets optioned Brazoban to Triple-A Syracuse following Monday night's game. Brazoban came on in relief of Frankie Montas during the fifth inning of Monday's game against the Padres, inheriting runners on second and third with one out and a 5-3 lead. While he eventually recorded the last two outs of the inning, Brazoban allowed three hits and a walk, which led to the Padres taking the lead with their sixth run of the game. In a corresponding move, the Mets re-signed Chris Devenski to the active roster Tuesday.

  • Mets' Huascar Brazoban: Opening second game of twin bill

Brazoban will serve as the Mets' opening pitcher for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Brewers, Manny Gomez of NJ.com reports. Brazoban isn't expected to cover more than an inning or two before giving way to right-hander Blade Tidwell, who was initially scheduled to start but will instead work in bulk relief. The Mets have used Brazoban as an opener on two other occasions this season.

  • Mets' Huascar Brazoban: Nabs third win

Brazoban (3-0) picked up the win Wednesday over the Red Sox, striking out four and allowing one hit over 2.1 scoreless innings. Tylor Megill lasted just 4.2 innings as the Mets' starting pitcher, but Brazoban stepped in to complete the fifth frame and breezed through two more innings, becoming the pitcher of record when New York broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the seventh. The 35-year-old righty has had a fantastic start to the season, posting a 0.90 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 30:8 K:BB through 30 innings while adding six holds and his first career save to his three wins.

  • Mets' Huascar Brazoban: Opening pitcher Wednesday

Brazoban will serve as the Mets' opening pitcher in Wednesday's game versus the Diamondbacks, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Brazoban will be making his second appearance of the season as an opener after tossing a scoreless inning earlier this month against the Twins. He'll be followed Wednesday by Brandon Waddell, who is expected to serve as the Mets' bulk reliever.

  • Mets' Huascar Brazoban: Serving as opener Wednesday

Brazoban will serve as the Mets' opening pitcher in Wednesday's game against the Twins, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. Brazoban will be making his first career start after permitting just one run with a 9:2 K:BB over his first 11.1 innings this season out of the season. He'll likely be tasked with covering no more than three innings before giving way to Justin Hagenman, who will serve as the Mets' bulk reliever Wednesday.

  • Mets' Huascar Brazoban: Nabs first career save

Brazoban struck out one in a scoreless two-thirds of an inning to record his first save of the season in Wednesday's extra-innings win over the Marlins. The right-hander got the final two outs of the 11th inning on only seven pitches (five strikes) to collect the first save of his career. Mets closer Edwin Diaz has worked earlier in the game, as had top setup men A.J. Minter and Ryne Stanek, so Brazoban's usage doesn't suggest he's now a key high-leverage arm for New York. The 35-year-old has pitched well to begin the season, however -- through three appearances and five innings, Brazoban has a 0.00 ERA and 5:1 K:BB.

  • Mets' Huascar Brazoban: Gets roster spot

Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said Wednesday that Brazoban will be included on the Opening Day roster, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. Brazoban secured one of the final available spots in the New York bullpen. The 35-year-old right-hander is likely to be used mostly in middle relief after he turned in a 3.83 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 51:25 K:BB to go with five holds across his 51.2 big-league innings between the Marlins and Mets during the regular season last year.

  • Mets' Huascar Brazoban: Quick return to majors

The Mets recalled Brazoban from Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday. The right-hander was optioned to Syracuse on Friday, but he'll rejoin the Mets just a couple days later since Paul Blackburn (hand) was placed on the injured list. Brazoban has a 3.76 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 44:18 K:BB across 40.2 innings between the Mets and Marlins this season.

  • Mets' Huascar Brazoban: Optioned to Syracuse

The Mets optioned Brazoban to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports. Brazoban is the roster casualty following the return of Dedniel Nunez (forearm) from the injured list. Since being traded from Miami to New York in July, Brazoban has surrendered seven earned runs in only 10 innings -- a stark contrast in performance from the 2.93 ERA he posted in 30.2 frames with the Marlins.

  • Mets' Huascar Brazoban: Sent to Queens

The Mets acquired Brazoban from the Marlins on Tuesday in exchange for outfield prospect Wilfredo Lara, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. Brazoban had primarily worked in middle relief for Miami this season and pitched well with a 2.93 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 34:11 K:BB over 30.2 innings. The right-hander will likely fill a similar role for the Mets.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Might get chance to close

Brazoban is a candidate to step into the closer role for the Marlins in the event Tanner Scott gets traded, Kaushik Sampath of the Miami Herald reports. Andrew Nardi is viewed as the top option to replace Scott, especially with A.J. Puk having been shipped to the Diamondbacks, but Brazoban might also be a factor in the ninth inning. The right-hander missed the beginning of the season due to visa issues, but since making his 2024 debut at the beginning of June, he has posted a 3.14 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 31:11 K:BB through 28.2 innings. He's taken things to another level over the last month or so, giving up zero earned runs over his last eight games with a 0.79 WHIP and 16:2 K:BB in 12.2 innings. Brazoban hasn't seen much high-leverage work this season, however, managing only one hold and one win in 18 appearances.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Collects first hold

Brazoban struck out one in a scoreless two-thirds of an inning Tuesday to record his first hold of the season in a win over the Royals. The 34-year-old right-hander didn't get a chance to break camp on the 26-man roster due to visa issues, but Brazoban has looked good since joining the Marlins at the end of May. Through nine appearances and 15.1 innings, he's posted a 2.93 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 14:9 K:BB, and he may be working his way into a higher-leverage role.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Optioned to Triple-A

The Marlins optioned Brazoban to Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.. Brazoban missed all of spring training and spent the first month of the season on the restricted list with visa issues. Those have been resolved, but he will head to Jacksonville for now to knock the rust off as he looks to earn a spot back in the Marlins' bullpen.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Activated from restricted list

The Marlins reinstated Brazoban (personal) from the restricted list Thursday. Brazoban landed on the restricted list prior to Opening Day due to visa issues, which have evidently been resolved. Though he's now back on the Marlins' 40-man roster, it's unclear when the reliever might be ready to join the 26-man active roster. Since he missed all of spring training, Brazoban will presumably need to make several appearances in the minors before being an option for the big-league bullpen.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Set for rehab assignment

Brazoban (hamstring/hip) is beginning a rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Jacksonville, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Out since mid-August due to a left hamstring strain and left hip impingement, Brazoban might become an option again for the Marlins' bullpen leading into the final week of the regular season. He registered a 4.29 ERA and 60:31 K:BB across 56.2 innings prior to landing on the injured list.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Throws off mound

Brazoban (hamstring/hip) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session Monday, MLB.com reports. It's the third time Brazoban has thrown from the bump since he landed on the injured list in mid-August with a left hamstring strain and left hip impingement. It would seem as though the reliever has a good chance to make it back before the end of the season, but a timeline for his activation is uncertain.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Placed on 15-day IL

Brazoban was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday with a left hamstring strain, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Brazoban suffered the injury while working in relief Sunday against the Yankees and will be sidelined through at least Aug. 29. Bryan Hoeing is joining the Marlins in a corresponding roster move.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Optioned to Triple-A

Miami optioned Brazoban to Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday. Brazoban was charged with two earned runs while failing to record an out in his most recent appearance Wednesday versus the Phillies. Devin Smeltzer will take his spot in the Marlins' bullpen ahead of Thursday's series finale.

Brazoban was optioned Tuesday to Triple-A Jacksonville, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Archie Bradley will join the Marlins' bullpen in a corresponding move. Brazoban threw 32 pitches over two innings of relief in Monday's series opener at Seattle and wasn't going to be available for a bit. He holds a 4.01 ERA in 28 appearances this year with Miami.
