  • Padres' Trenton Brooks: Outrighted to Triple-A

Brooks was outrighted to Triple-A El Paso on Monday after clearing waivers. Brooks lost his spot on the 40-man roster after the Padres acquired Ramon Laureano and Ryan O'Hearn from the Orioles on Thursday. Brooks will remain in San Diego in Triple-A, where he's slashing .313/.415/.585 with two steals, 13 home runs na d53 RBI in 265 plate appearances this season.

  • Padres' Trenton Brooks: Loses roster spot

Brooks was designated for assignment by the Padres on Thursday. Brooks was with the big-league club while serving primarily as a depth option. After the Padres acquired Ryan O'Hearn and Ramon Laureano on Thursday, Brooks had no role on the roster and lost his spot as a result.

  • Padres' Trenton Brooks: Losing out on starts

Brooks is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins. The left-handed-hitting Brooks is on the bench for the fifth straight game and the third straight matchup with a right-handed pitcher. At this point, the Padres appear content to use the designated-hitter spot to rotate multiple everyday players rather than leaning on Brooks in the strong side of a platoon. Brooks has posted a weak .154/.195/.282 slash line in 41 plate appearances since getting called up from Triple-A El Paso on June 15.

  • Padres' Trenton Brooks: Idle against righty

Brooks is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins. The left-handed-hitting Brooks was on the bench for the final two games of the Padres' series in Washington over the weekend while the Nationals sent lefties to the hill, but he'll be absent from the lineup Monday versus Marlins righty Eury Perez. Since getting called up from Triple-A El Paso on June 15, Brooks is slashing just .158/.200/.289 over 40 plate appearances, and he could soon be at risk of losing his roster spot.

  • Padres' Trenton Brooks: Heading to bench Sunday

Brooks is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals. Brooks had started at designated hitter in three of the Padres' last four matchups with right-handed pitchers and has gone 2-for-7 with a home run and two doubles in five games overall since being called up from Triple-A El Paso on June 15, but he's not yet locked in as a regular in the San Diego lineup. With Gavin Sheets getting a day off from playing the outfield and serving as the DH, the Padres won't have a lineup spot available for Brooks on Sunday.

  • Padres' Trenton Brooks: Receives call to majors

The Padres selected Brooks' contract from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday. Brooks logged 29 plate appearances in the majors with the Giants in 2024, but he was outrighted off the 40-man roster last July and elected free agency before catching on with the Padres on a minor-league deal. The 29-year-old has been a mainstay in the lineup at El Paso this season and will earn a look with the big club after slashing .313/.415/.585 with 13 home runs and 53 RBI over 265 plate appearances. Brooks isn't included in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks, but he could be an option for the Padres in left field or at first base and designated hitter against right-handed pitching while Jackson Merrill (concussion) and Jason Heyward (oblique) are on the injured list.

  • Giants' Trenton Brooks: Sent outright to Triple-A

The Giants outrighted Brooks to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports. The first baseman went 3-for-25 at the plate during his time with the Giants before he was moved off the 40-man roster.

  • Giants' Trenton Brooks: Losing work to Flores

Brooks is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels. Brooks looked as though he might hold down a strong-side platoon role at first base following his call-up from Triple-A Sacramento on May 28, but he appears to have since faded into a pure backup role behind Wilmer Flores. He'll be out of the lineup for the fifth straight game, with the Giants facing three lefty starters and two righties during that span.

  • Giants' Trenton Brooks: Sitting versus southpaw

Brooks is not in the starting lineup against the Angels on Saturday. Brooks will remain on the bench for a third consecutive game as the Giants face another left-hander (Patrick Sandoval) on the mound. Wilmer Flores will draw another start at first base and bat third versus Los Angeles.

  • Giants' Trenton Brooks: Not starting versus LHP

Brooks isn't in the Giants' lineup for Friday's game against the Angels, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Brooks will take a seat Friday as lefty Tyler Anderson toes the slab for the Angels. Wilmer Flores will get the nod at first base while batting fifth.

  • Giants' Trenton Brooks: Heading to bench versus lefty

Brooks is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The lefty-hitting Brooks will hit the bench for the second day in a row, this time against a lefty (Framber Valdez) after sitting versus right-hander Ronel Blanco in Tuesday's 3-1 loss. Brooks and Wilmer Flores will continue to form a rough platoon at first base while LaMonte Wade (hamstring) is on the shelf, though Flores will still see some select starts against right-handed pitching.

  • Giants' Trenton Brooks: On bench versus lefty

Brooks is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks. The lefty-hitting Brooks is on the bench for the second game in a row while the Giants have faced southpaws Blake Walston and Jordan Montgomery in those contests. Wilmer Flores will get another start at first base Wednesday, but Brooks still looks to be in the strong side of a platoon at the position while LaMonte Wade (hamstring) is on the shelf.

  • Giants' Trenton Brooks: Promoted from Triple-A

The Giants selected Brooks from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday. Brooks will make his MLB debut Tuesday for the Giants against the Phillies as the first baseman, batting ninth. In Triple-A Sacramento this season, he has slashed .308/.426/.462 with four home runs across 177 plate appearances in 43 games. The promotion coincides with LaMonte Wade being placed on the injured list and Ryan McKenna being designated for assignment.
