  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Some late improvement

Suwinski went 2-for-3 with an RBI on Saturday against Atlanta. Suwinski delivered an RBI in the sixth inning to put the Pirates up 3-1. He's had an abysmal offensive season and spent much of the year in the minors, though he has at least one hit in five of his last seven games. Suwinski has closed the season as the Pirates' primary left fielder against right-handed pitching, though he's likely to face significant competition for a roster spot to begin 2026.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Idle against southpaw

Suwinski is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta. The lefty-hitting Suwinski will dodge a same-hand matchup with Joey Wentz. Tommy Pham, Alexander Canario and Bryan Reynolds will fill the outfield from left to right.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Exiting starting nine

Suwinski is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Cincinnati. Suwinski had started five of the past six games against right-handed pitching, but he'll begin this one on the bench as the Reds send righty Hunter Greene to the bump. Tommy Pham will play right field and bat sixth for the Pirates.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Heading to bench Wednesday

Suwinski is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals. Suwinski had started each of the last three games and six of the previous seven, but he's likely to serve as more of a fourth outfielder for Pittsburgh heading into the final month of the season after center fielder Oneil Cruz returned from the injured list Tuesday. However, with the Pirates handing more frequent days off to veterans Andrew McCutchen and Tommy Pham down the stretch, Suwinski could still be in store for a handful of starts per week.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Resting up Monday

Suwinski is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays. The left-handed-hitting Suwinski has been drawing regular starts against right-handed pitching of late, but he'll head to the bench Monday while the Blue Jays send righty Kevin Gausman to the hill. With Suwinski getting the night off in the series opener, Alexander Canario will cover center field and will bat seventh.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Getting regular run in center field

Suwinski will start in center field and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Cubs. Suwinski has started four of the last five games and appears to be the primary option in center field against right-handed pitching while Oneil Cruz (concussion) is on the 7-day injured list. Since the start of August, Suwinski has produced a .798 OPS over 12 games.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Comes up clutch Friday

Suwinski went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 win over the Cubs. He was also hit by a pitch. Suwinski broke a 2-2 tie with a go-ahead solo shot in the ninth, which proved to be the game-winner. It was the 27-year-old's second homer in his past 10 games, though he's just 5-for-28 in that span. On the season, he's slashing a bleak .125/.282/.240 with three home runs, six RBI, 11 runs scored and six steals across 117 plate appearances.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Rare multi-hit performance

Suwinski went 2-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored and a walk Sunday against the Reds. Suwinski has earned playing time across all three outfield spots in the last week, starting six of seven games against right-handed pitchers. As pedestrian as his performance was, Sunday was one of his better games of the season and marked only his second multi-hit performance across 26 starts. Suwinski is hitting a miserable .126 for the campaign and has only a .092 ISO across 106 plate appearances.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Goes yard in victory

Suwinski went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and an additional run scored in Monday's 5-4 win against the Giants. The Pittsburgh outfielder notched his second long ball of the season when he took San Francisco reliever Carson Seymour deep in seventh inning. The round-tripper marked Suwinski's second extra-base hit -- both homers -- since rejoining the big-league club July 8 in a reserve role. Since then, the 27-year-old has struggled at the plate with a .103 (3-for-29) average, four runs scored and three RBI across 13 contests.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Hitless in return to majors

Suwinski went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts Tuesday against the Royals. Suwinski was recalled Tuesday and appears to be headed for his first significant stint in the majors since being optioned April 20. He immediately drew a start in right field while hitting seventh, replacing Andrew McCutchen in the lineup. Suwinski is likely to serve primarily as a bench bat while he remains in Pittsburgh, but he could start a few times per week while rotating in for McCutchen and Tommy Pham.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Sent to minors

Suwinski was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Suwinski began the season with a regular role in the outfield, but he's started just three of the team's last 11 games. His playing time slipped after a dreadful start to the season, as he has just five hits across 39 at-bats while striking out 42.2 percent of the time.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Snaps hitless streak

Suwinski went 2-for-4 on Tuesday against the Nationals. Suwinski entered Tuesday hitless across his last six games and nine at-bats. He did manage four walks in that span, but it's still been a poor start to the season, as he has only a .156/.289/.188 slash line across 38 plate appearances while striking out at a 39.5 percent rate.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Not starting Sunday

Suwinski is not in the Pirates' starting lineup against the Reds on Sunday. Suwinski will sit for a second straight game after going 0-for-3 with one run scored, one walk and one strikeout Friday. Adam Frazier, Oneil Cruz and Alexander Canario will man the outfield for the Pirates.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: On bench again Monday

Suwinski is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals. Suwinski will take a seat for the third time in four games following a recent streak of five consecutive starts. Though the Pirates will continue to shield the left-handed-hitting Suwinski from matchups against southpaws, the 26-year-old should be in line for at least a part-time role versus righties while fellow outfielder Bryan Reynolds is limited to designated-hitter duties as he continues to manage right triceps soreness.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Getting fifth straight start

Suwinski will start in right field and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the Rays. After handling a bench role in the first two games of the season, Suwinski will now pick up his fifth straight start. The uptick in playing time has come at the expense of Andrew McCutchen, who will take a seat for the third straight game. Suwinski has gone 2-for-15 with six strikeouts thus far, but he's salvaged some value with a pair of stolen bases.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Productive in first start

Suwinski went 1-for-5 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and an RBI in Saturday's game against the Marlins. Suwinski has opened the season in a reserve outfield role but drew his first start Saturday while hitting fifth. He delivered his only hit of the game in the first inning with a hard-hit double over the right fielder's head to drive in a run. Suwinski had a strong spring to earn a bench spot, but he could earn additional playing time if he bounces back to his 2023 form.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Could be fourth outfielder

Suwinski is projected to make the Opening Day roster as a reserve outfielder by Alex Stumpf of MLB.com. Suwinski has had 25 plate appearances in spring training and has tallied four extra-base hits. As has been the case since making his MLB debut in 2022, Suwinski has also struggled to make consistent contact as he's racked up a 28 percent strikeout rate. The Pirates' decision for a final bench spot appears to come down to Suwinski, Billy Cook and Nick Yorke.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Hot start to spring

Suwinski has gone 4-for-7 with one home run, two walks, two strikeouts and two stolen bases across three Grapefruit League games. Suwinski had a disappointing 2024 season that saw him shift from a key piece of the Pirates' outfield to battling for a roster spot entering 2025. He's made a strong impression early in camp, though it's worth noting that he maintained an .854 OPS across 52 at-bats in spring training last year only to fall flat in the regular season.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: Sent to Indianapolis

The Pirates optioned Suwinski to Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday. After being called up to the majors June 4, Suwinski slashed .193/.261/.358 with five home runs, 13 RBI and a 32.5 percent strikeout rate across 118 plate appearances. The 26-year-old will likely need to show an improve plate approach at Triple-A before he gets another look from the Pirates.

  • Pirates' Jack Suwinski: On bench against righty

Suwinski is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks. Even with right-hander Brandon Pfaadt taking the mound for Arizona, the lefty-hitting Suwinski will take a seat. While he still owns a .184 batting average, Suwinski has gone 4-for-10 with a double and three stolen bases since the All-Star break. Michael Taylor will fill in as the center fielder Saturday.
