  • Brewers' Tyler Black: Returning to Triple-A

The Brewers optioned Black to Triple-A Nashville on Monday.

Milwaukee promoted Black from Nashville on Friday after Blake Perkins and Isaac Collins were placed on the bereavement list and paternity list, respectively, but the 25-year-old will head back to the minors with both players having since rejoined the Brewers. During his brief stay with the big club, Black didn't make a start but appeared in two of the Brewers' three games in Cincinnati over the weekend, going 0-for-2 with three walks.

  • Brewers' Tyler Black: Called up Friday

The Brewers recalled Black from Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

The 26-year-old was up with the Brewers for a few days in late July and went 2-for-6 with two walks, a double, an RBI and a run in three games. Black will rejoin the big club ahead of the three-game set this weekend in Cincinnati, and he should have a path to playing time with Blake Perkins (bereavement) and Isaac Collins (paternity) away from the team.

  • Brewers' Tyler Black: Returns to minors

Milwaukee optioned Black to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

Black had been called up from Nashville on Sunday and got into three games with the Brewers (though he made only one start), going went 2-for-6 with a double and an RBI. His return to the minors Saturday makes room on the 26-man roster for the return of Sal Frelick (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list.

  • Brewers' Tyler Black: Called up Sunday

The Brewers called up Black from Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.

Black fractured the hamate bone in his right hand in late March and missed over six weeks of action. He's largely struggled in 24 contests with Nashville since returning in mid-May, posting a .191/.301/.303 slash line, but he has produced five stolen bases, two homers and 17 RBI. Black's first big-league opportunity in 2025 comes as a result of Jake Bauers landing on the 10-day IL on Sunday due to a shoulder injury.

  • Brewers' Tyler Black: Makes season debut at Triple-A

Black (hand) was reinstated from Triple-A Nashville's 7-day injured list Wednesday and went 0-for-3 with a walk and an RBI while playing eight innings in left field in a 5-2 loss to Norfolk.

Black was cleared to make his 2025 debut for the Triple-A club after completing his recovery from surgery to repair a fractured right hand, which he sustained late in spring training. Before he was activated, Black played 10 games in a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, slashing .387/.513/.613 with one home run in 39 plate appearances. Black should handle an everyday role with Nashville and will likely see starts in the infield in addition to both corner-outfield spots.

  • Brewers' Tyler Black: Closing in on 2025 Triple-A debut

Black (hand) has made six appearances in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League during his rehab assignment, going 7-for-18 with two doubles, one triple, four walks, three RBI and three runs.

After falling short in his bid for a spot on the Brewers' Opening Day roster and being optioned to Triple-A Nashville on March 22, Black ended up beginning the season on Nashville's injured list due to a hamate fracture in his right hand. He underwent surgery and missed about six weeks of action before kicking off his rehab assignment in Arizona on May 15. He's expected to be activated from Nashville's IL early next week, according to MLB.com.

  • Brewers' Tyler Black: Rehabbing in Arizona

Black (hand) began a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League last Thursday and has slashed .455/.571/.818 over 14 plate appearances through his first four games.

Black remains on Triple-A Nashville's injured list after he sustained a fractured hamate bone in his right hand late in spring training, but he looks to be close to making his season debut with Milwaukee's top affiliate. The 24-year-old appeared in 18 games with the big club in 2024 and retains a spot on the Brewers' 40-man roster, but once activated, he'll likely need to turn in a solid run of production at the plate with Nashville before he garners consideration for a call-up.

  • Brewers' Tyler Black: Out 6-to-8 weeks with hand fracture

Black will be sidelined 6-to-8 weeks after suffering a fractured right hamate bone, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

It's an injury that typically requires surgery and often results in a loss of power initially upon a return to action. In all likelihood, Black won't be an option for the Brewers until at least June. He managed just a .561 OPS during his time with the big club last season.

  • Brewers' Tyler Black: Optioned to Nashville

The Brewers optioned Black to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

Between his poor showing in the Cactus League (5-for-34) and his struggles with the Brewers last season (.561 OPS), it seems Black is having a hard time figuring out major-league pitchers. He'll now head back to Nashville in an effort to right the ship, but the 24-year-old infielder may be running out of chances to prove himself as a big-league hitter.

  • Brewers' Tyler Black: Making spring debut Sunday

Black (back) is batting third as the designated hitter in Sunday's Cactus League game against the Guardians.

It's the first game action of the spring for Black, who suffered a minor back injury early in camp. The 24-year-old finished last season at Triple-A Nashville but received his first taste of the majors and had a .204/.316/.245 slash line and 29.8 percent strikeout rate in 57 plate appearances. He faces long odds to crack Milwaukee's Opening Day roster.

  • Brewers' Tyler Black: Hits off tee Tuesday

Black (back) hit off a tee Tuesday and is hoping to make his Cactus League debut next week, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Black tweaked his back last week and has been dealing with some stiffness. The first baseman got into 18 games with the Brewers last season, slashing .204/.316/.245 with a pair of doubles, two RBI and three stolen bases across 57 regular-season plate appearances. Black is considered a long shot to make Milwaukee's Opening Day roster barring injury.

  • Brewers' Tyler Black: Dealing with back stiffness

Black has been held out of Cactus League play due to minor back stiffness, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

It shouldn't be a long-term issue, but it's not clear when Black might be ready to play in games. Black already seemed unlikely to win a spot on the Opening Day roster, and any delay seemingly decreases his odds.

  • Brewers' Tyler Black: Moves back to Triple-A

The Brewers optioned Black to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday.

Black will cede his spot on the 26-man active roster to outfielder Blake Perkins (calf), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. After getting recalled from Nashville on Aug. 12, Black started at designated hitter in five of the Brewers' ensuing nine games while going 2-for-15 with three walks against five strikeouts. Now that Black is out of the mix, the Brewers will likely rotate a number of players at DH, with Gary Sanchez, Jake Bauers and Perkins all being candidates to see upticks in opportunities.
