The Marlins optioned Roa to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.
Roa will return to Triple-A following a two-day stint in the big leagues with Miami activating Tyler Phillips (personal) from the paternity list. The 26-year-old right-hander made his lone appearance during his latest stay with Miami during Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Tigers, tossing a scoreless inning out of the bullpen.

Marlins' Christian Roa: Brought back up to big club
Rotowire
Miami recalled Roa from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.
Roa's return to the Marlins was spurred by fellow reliever Tyler Phillips landing on the paternity list. Phillips is allowed up to three days away from the team, so Roa's time with the big-league squad may be short. Roa has just one appearance with Miami this year, allowing one hit and one walk with three strikeouts over two scoreless innings against Philadelphia on Sept. 6.

Marlins' Christian Roa: Selected from Jacksonville
Rotowire
The Marlins selected Roa's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.
Roa has enjoyed a breakout campaign at Jacksonville this season, turning in a 2.83 ERA and 1.10 WHIP alongside a 61:28 K:BB through 57.1 innings. The 26-year-old's performance will earn him a spot in Miami's bullpen as the replacement for the injured Freddy Tarnok (ankle). Roa will be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game.

Marlins' Christian Roa: Tosses scoreless frame Saturday
Rotowire
Roa (shoulder) tossed a scoreless inning, allowing one walk while striking out a batter in Saturday's 7-6 win over the Cardinals in Grapefruit League action.
Roa ended the 2024 season on the 60-day injured list with the Reds after suffering a right shoulder strain. The right-hander was claimed off waivers by the Marlins in November and he has now officially left his shoulder injury in the past. Roa has yet to make his MLB debut after being selected in the second round of the 2020 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Reds and he'll likely start the 2025 season with Triple-A Jacksonville.

Reds' Christian Roa: Joins 40-man roster
Rotowire
The Reds selected Roa to their 40-man roster Tuesday.
Putting Roa on the 40-man roster prevents him from being scooped up by another team in next month's Rule 5 Draft. However, the 24-year-old righty will likely need to show significant improvement before getting the call to the majors after posting a 5.43 ERA and 1.77 WHIP across 61.1 frames with Triple-A Louisville in 2023.
