  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Heading back to injured list

The Rays will place Kim (back) on the 10-day injured list Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Kim was scratched from Wednesday's lineup with back tightness and evidently the injury is bad enough to require another trip to the IL for the veteran infielder. The 29-year-old Kim has been limited to only 29 games this season due to myriad injuries, and he's slashed just .214/.290/.321 in those contests. It's not clear how long Kim will be sidelined this time around. Top prospect Carson Williams will take Kim's spot on the active roster.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Dealing with back tightness

Kim was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Yankees due to lower-back tightness, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Kim spent time on the injured list with a lower-back strain at the end of July before he was activated Aug. 1. It's been a season full of injuries for the 29-year-old shortstop, as he's also dealt with calf, shoulder and hamstring issues, limiting Kim to just 23 games to this point. It's unclear if Kim will need another IL stint this time around. Tristan Gray is at shortstop for Tampa Bay on Wednesday.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Scratched from Wednesday's lineup

Kim was scratched from the Rays' lineup against the Yankees on Wednesday due to an undisclosed reason. Expect the team to provide an explanation for Kim's late removal from the lineup following Wednesday's contest. As a result of Kim being scratched, Tristan Gray will start at shortstop and bat ninth. Kim has logged at least one hit in four of his last five games, going 6-for-20 with a double and two steals over that span.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Nabs steal in win

Kim went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Giants. Kim has logged a steal in two of his last three games, going 4-for-11 in that span. The 29-year-old has regained a starting job at shortstop since returning from a stint on the injured list due to lower-back tightness at the start of August. Kim should be able to keep the job a while longer while Taylor Walls (groin) is out. For the season, Kim has a poor .213/.298/.333 slash line with two home runs, six steals, five RBI and five runs scored over 84 plate appearances, though he's been bothered by a handful of injuries throughout the campaign.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Notches second homer of season

Kim went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an RBI double during Sunday's 6-3 loss to Seattle. Kim has struggled since coming off the injured list Aug. 1, going 3-for-21 (.143) with eight strikeouts before Sunday's outburst. He swatted a solo home run in the fourth inning off Bryan Woo, marking the shortstop's second in 63 plate appearances in 2025. He has a .681 OPS on the year.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Not starting Tuesday

Kim isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports. After going 3-for-14 with two walks in four games since his return from the injured list, Kim will grab a seat on the bench Tuesday while Taylor Walls starts at shortstop.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Reaches base twice

Kim went 1-for-3 with a walk Monday against the Angels. Kim returned from the injured list Friday and has started all four games since. He's collected one hit in three of those contests, though none have gone for extra bases, and he's also provided no counting stats in that span.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Activated from IL

The Rays reinstated Kim (back) from the injured list Friday. Kim will end up missing only the minimum amount of time after landing on the injured list last Friday with lower-back tightness. He'll reclaim the starting shortstop job now that he's healthy and aim to build some momentum after going 2-for-9 with four walks since the All-Star break.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Back on IL

The Rays placed Kim on the 10-day injured list Friday due to a low back strain, retroactive to Tuesday. Kim left Monday's game against the White Sox due to lower-back tightness, and he will go on the IL after missing the Rays' last three games. It's the 29-year-old's second stint on the IL this season after he missed the first half of the year while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, plus a calf injury in early July has limited him to just 10 games with the Rays this year. Kim did go through a pregame workout before Friday's contest against the Reds, so he could be facing a short stint on the IL. The Rays reinstated Jonny DeLuca (shoulder) from the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Out of lineup Friday

Kim reported lower-back tightness Monday after making an awkward throw to first base.

Kim (back) isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Taylor Walls will fill in at shortstop, opening up second base for Jose Caballero.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Exits early Monday

Kim was removed from Monday's game against the White Sox for an undisclosed reason, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Kim drew a walk in his lone at-bat before being pulled from the matchup. He was replaced by Jose Caballero, who was deployed at second base while Taylor Walls bumped over to shortstop. The team should have more information on Kim's status after the game.

Kim went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base Saturday against the Orioles. Kim has dealt with a few minor injuries since making his season debut July 4, but he's been back in the lineup for Tampa Bay's first two games since the All-Star break. He tallied his second multi-hit performance across eight starts on the campaign and also swiped his second bag in three tries. Kim has been productive with one home run, three RBI and three runs scored across 29 plate appearances.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Returns to lineup

Kim (foot) is batting eighth and playing shortstop Friday against Baltimore. Kim fouled a ball off his left foot Sunday and was removed from the contest. However, X-rays came back clean, and he's been cleared to play in Tampa Bay's first game post-All-Star break. He's 5-for-22 (.227) in 2025.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Taking seat Friday

Kim is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Red Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Kim started the previous three games and will head to the bench Friday after going 4-for-12 with a double, a homer and three RBI. Taylor Walls will step in at shortstop for Tampa Bay.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Good to go Tuesday

Kim (calf) is starting at shortstop and batting fifth Tuesday against the Tigers, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports. Kim sat out the previous three games due to a right calf strain, but he'll rejoin the starting nine after Monday's team off day. After recovering from shoulder surgery and missing the first three-plus months of the season, the 29-year-old lasted just seven innings during his season debut Friday before suffering the calf injury.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Not in Sunday's lineup

Kim (calf) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins, though he ran at about 80 percent, played catch and took swings in the batting cage prior to the contest, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. The 29-year-old made an early exit in his Rays debut during Friday's 4-3 loss after his right calf started to cramp up, and he'll sit Sunday for a second consecutive game while Taylor Walls draws the start at shortstop. Kim doesn't appear headed for a stint on the injured list but could miss another day or two, depending how his calf responds to the more intensive workouts.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Sitting Saturday

Kim (calf) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Twins, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports. Kim had to leave his Rays debut early Friday after his calf began to cramp up on him in the seventh inning. He'll take an extra day off to recover Saturday; meanwhile, Taylor Walls will start at shortstop and bat seventh.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Day-to-day with calf injury

Kim was removed from Friday's game against the Twins due to a right calf injury, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports. After spending the first several months of the season on the injured list due to shoulder and hamstring injuries, Kim's Rays debut came to an early end after he injured his calf attempting to steal third base in the seventh inning. Manager Kevin Cash said after the game that Kim is considered day-to-day, so it doesn't seem like the 29-year-old infielder is headed for another IL stint. Taylor Walls will likely start any games Kim has to miss.

  • Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Restarting rehab assignment

Kim (shoulder/hamstring) will resume his rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham on Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Kim started the season on the 60-day injured list due to offseason surgery on his right shoulder. He was cleared to embark on a rehab assignment in late May, but he was pulled after experiencing tightness in his right hamstring. After resuming light baseball activities, Kim has been cleared to play in Friday's game with Durham, when he will serve as the designated hitter.
