  • Padres' Fernando Tatis: Goes deep in defeat

Tatis went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday in a loss to the Reds. Tatis has picked up his power a bit in September, swatting three long balls through nine games after going deep just once across 27 contests in August. Overall, he's at a relatively modest 21 home runs this season, though he's added 29 stolen bases, 63 RBI, 97 runs and an .801 OPS to provide well-rounded production.

  • Padres' Fernando Tatis: In Tuesday's lineup

Tatis (lower body) will start in right field and bat leadoff Tuesday against the Orioles, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. • Padres' Fernando Tatis: Scratched from lineup Monday

Tatis was scratched from the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles due to lower half tightness, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports. Tatis said after Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Twins that he was dealing with some right hamstring tightness during the contest, but he felt well enough for the Padres to include him in their initial lineup for Monday's series opener. The Padres haven't indicated whether Tatis suffered a setback leading up to the start of the game, or if he was scratched out of an abundance of caution. Bryce Johnson will enter the starting nine in Tatis' stead, starting in center field and batting eighth.

  • Padres' Fernando Tatis: Cleared to start Monday

Tatis (hamstring) will start in right field and bat leadoff in Monday's game against the Orioles, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Tatis revealed after Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Twins that he had contended with some right hamstring tightness during the contest, but the Padres weren't concerned enough about the injury to send the outfielder in for further testing. The 26-year-old appears to have bounced back well from the issue overnight and will remain in the lineup for the series opener against Monday, occupying his familiar spot in the field and in the batting order.

  • Padres' Fernando Tatis: Battles tight hamstring Sunday

Tatis acknowledged that he felt "a little tightness" in his right hamstring during Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Twins, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Tatis was seen grabbing at his hamstring during the seventh inning. He eventually exited the contest during the eighth inning, although his departure seemed to be more as a result of the game being out of reach, as the Padres pulled a couple other starters, as well. Tatis was walking around fine after the game and said he would be back in the lineup Monday against the Orioles.

The outfielder's power has been down this year -- his .433 slugging percentage is the lowest of any year in his career. He's batting .263 with an .805 OPS, 18 homers, 54 RBI, 91 runs scored and 26 stolen bases across 129 contests.
