  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Officially activated

The Dodgers reinstated Scott (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Friday. Scott will rejoin the active roster after a month-long stint on the IL with left elbow inflammation, pushing Matt Sauer back to Triple-A. Scott has converted on 19 of 26 save chances this season. He figures to step right back into his closing role.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Expected back this weekend

Scott (elbow) is expected to be activated from the 15-day injured list ahead of the Dodgers' upcoming weekend series against the Padres, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. Scott threw one relief inning during a rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, and manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that Scott will "probably not" pitch again in the minors before rejoining the big-league club. Scott hasn't pitched with Los Angeles since July 21 and holds a 4.14 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 50:11 K:BB across 45.2 innings this season. He's notched 19 saves and should be back in the closer mix once reinstated.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Cleared for rehab assignment

Scott (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, MLB.com reports. Scott is ready to test himself in a game environment after he cleared a major hurdle in his recovery from left elbow inflammation by throwing a simulated inning against live hitters Friday. Given that Scott has been on the injured list since July 22, he may need more than one rehab appearance before being activated, but his stint on the farm shouldn't be a lengthy one. Scott leads the Dodgers with 19 saves on the season and could step back in as the team's primary ninth-inning option upon his return, as no pitcher has run away with the closing job since the left-hander landed on the IL.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Faces hitters Friday

Scott (elbow) threw a 22-pitch simulated inning Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Scott has been throwing off a mound since Aug. 6, though Friday marks the first time he's done so against live hitters. The Dodgers may still look to get him a few tune-up outings in the minors before activating him from the injured list, but a late-August return is still on the table.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Could face hitters soon

Scott (elbow) could be cleared to face live hitters at some point next week, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. The Dodgers have yet to reveal a timetable for Scott's activation, but if all goes according to plan, he could take another step forward within the next week. The southpaw was placed on the 15-day injured list July 22 due to left elbow inflammation and looks to be trending toward a late-August return.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Resumes throwing

Manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Scott (elbow) has begun a throwing progression, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Scott still has several hurdles to clear before he can come off the injured list, but his return to throwing is a positive sign nonetheless. The 31-year-old reliever landed on the IL last Tuesday with elbow inflammation and remains without a clear return timeline, though he's still expected back in the Dodgers' bullpen before the end of the year.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Officially placed on IL

The Dodgers placed Scott on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with left elbow inflammation. The fact that the team is labeling Scott's injury as "inflammation" suggests the southpaw didn't suffer any structural damage during his outing Monday, but it will still cause him to remain out until at least early August. Alexis Diaz will come up from Triple-A Oklahoma City to fill the open spot in Los Angeles' bullpen, and closing duties will likely be handed to Kirby Yates or Alex Vesia going forward.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Leaves with trainer

Scott left Monday's game against the Twins due to an undisclosed injury, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. The nature of Scott's injury is unclear at this time, though he was in obvious discomfort after firing his 22nd pitch of the night. He stated after the game that he felt a "sting" in his forearm, and the team will send him for an MRI on Tuesday, per Ardaya. Kirby Yates would likely be in line for save chances if Scott is looking at an IL stint, and Blake Treinen (forearm), who is nearing the end of a rehab assignment, could also get saves once he's activated.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Battles hard for save

Scott picked up the save, working a scoreless ninth while allowing two hits, walking one and striking out one during Friday's 5-4 win over the Royals. Scott made it 18 saves on the season, but things got dicey on the way there. The left-hander loaded the bases with one out, but he induced a game-ending double play to clinch the win. The 30-year-old has converted eight straight save opportunities, though he has allowed five hits and two walks while striking out only two over his last four appearances spanning 4.1 innings.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Picks up 17th save

Scott walked one and struck out one in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Rockies. Scott has six saves and two holds over his last eight appearances, a span in which he's allowed two runs (one earned) over 8.1 innings. The walk he issued Thursday was just the fifth he's permitted all season, but he was able to erase the mistake with a game-ending double play. Scott is at a 3.55 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 41 strikeouts over 38 innings while adding 17 saves, seven holds and five blown saves while working as Los Angeles' main closing option.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Allows homer in save

Scott allowed a run on one hit over one inning to earn the save in Friday's 6-5 win over the Nationals. Scott had to face the top of the Nationals' order and gave up a solo home run to CJ Abrams, but he was able to preserve the lead after that. This was the first earned run Scott had given up since June 2 versus the Mets, and it was the first time he's allowed a baserunner since June 9 in San Diego. The left-handed reliever is up to 15 saves this year while adding seven holds and five blown saves. He's maintained a 3.79 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 40:4 K:BB over 35.2 innings as the head of the Dodgers' closing committee.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Clean inning for 14th save

Scott struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 8-6 win over the Padres. Scott was called upon in the ninth inning to face the heart of the Padres' order. He closed out the game with 13 pitches (nine strikes) while pitching for the third day in a row. This was his fourth straight perfect inning, a span in which he's racked up six strikeouts, two saves and two holds. Scott has a 3.63 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 40:4 K:BB, 14 saves and seven holds across 34.2 innings this season. He remains the Dodgers' top high-leverage reliever, though that has occasionally cost him some chances at saves since the team has plenty of trustworthy late-inning arms. Scott likely won't pitch Wednesday given his recent workload, so look for Kirby Yates or Alex Vesia to be closing options should a save situation arise in that game.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Deployed in eighth frame Wednesday

Scott pitched a perfect eighth inning, striking out one batter and earning a hold in Wednesday's win over San Diego. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts elected to call upon Scott to face the middle of the Padres' order with Los Angeles holding a 4-2 lead in the eighth. Scott looked great in firing 11 of 15 pitches for strikes and retiring Jackson Merrill, Gavin Sheets and Xander Bogaerts in order. Roberts indicated in early June that the team has "no dedicated closer," and that was emphasized Wednesday, as Scott notched a hold while fellow lefty Alex Vesia struck out the side in a perfect ninth frame to grab the save. Still, Scott leads the club with 12 saves -- including three of the past five -- and remains the best choice for fantasy managers among the Dodgers' bullpen options.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Collects 11th save

Scott surrendered a hit but recorded two strikeouts in the ninth inning to pick up the save during Thursday's 6-5 win over the Mets. After his closer status was put into question following a rocky outing Monday, Scott has posted back-to-back scoreless appearances. Right back in a save situation Friday, he needed 21 pitches to finish off his 11th save, but he posted two more strikeouts to make it 31 on the season, for a K/9 rate of 10.1. The 30-year-old southpaw is now 11-for-16 on save opportunities for the season.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Blows fourth save

Scott coughed up three runs on three hits and a walk while recording just one out Friday, blowing his fourth save of the season in an eventual 7-5 extra-innings win over the Mets. Brought in to protect a 5-2 lead in the ninth inning, Scott put two runners aboard ahead of a one-out triple by Jeff McNeil, who then came home on a Tyrone Taylor single. Scott has blown two of his last three save chances, but he'd gone eight appearances without allowing a run prior to that. The southpaw sports a 3.42 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 25:2 K:BB through 23.2 innings on the season with 10 saves and four holds in 24 games, and his spot in the Dodgers' bullpen hierarchy doesn't seem to be in immediate jeopardy, especially with Kirby Yates (hamstring), Michael Kopech (shoulder) and Evan Phillips (elbow) all currently on the injured list.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Bounces back with smooth save

Scott earned a save against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, striking out two batters in a perfect ninth inning. Scott blew a save opportunity while giving up three runs (two earned) over 1.2 frames Tuesday, but he was right back on the mound one day later despite having thrown 28 pitches in that outing. This time the southpaw got the job done, throwing 12 of 14 pitches for strikes and fanning two batters en route to an impressive 1-2-3 frame. Seven different Dodgers relievers have a save this season, but Scott is the clear leader of the pack with 10 saves (no other Dodgers pitcher has more than two). As such, he should be viewed as one of fantasy's most desirable relievers despite the fact that he'll occasionally be used in high-leverage situations before the ninth inning.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Returns to closing duties

Scott struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Friday's 14-11 win over the Diamondbacks. Since Scott's April 22 blown save versus the Cubs, he had logged 4.2 scoreless innings with a 6:1 K:BB, but he earned just two holds in that span. The Dodgers turned to Kirby Yates and Evan Phillips (elbow) for one save each during that stretch, and Matt Sauer earned a four-inning save as well. Scott is more of a stopper than a closer currently, as it looks like the Dodgers are prepared to deploy him whenever necessary to protect a lead. He's still the leading candidate for saves with nine of them in 11 chances while adding four holds, a 1.93 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 19:1 K:BB across 18.2 innings this season.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Serves up game-tying homer vs. Cubs

Scott blew the save Tuesday against the Cubs after giving up a solo home run in the ninth inning. He struck out one. Summoned to protect a 10-9 lead in a back-and-forth battle, Scott was one out away from nabbing the save before serving up a long to ball to Miguel Amaya. It was the second blown save of the year for the 30-year-old left-hander, who has still worked to an impressive 2.77 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 11:0 K:BB through his first 13 innings. Although the Dodgers aren't short on other high-leverage arms with closing experience, Scott should still remain the favorite for saves going forward despite Tuesday's hiccup.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Strikes out side for sixth save

Scott earned a save against the Rockies on Wednesday, allowing one hit and striking out three batters in a scoreless inning of work. Scott was tasked with protecting a one-run lead in the ninth inning. The lefty allowed a two-out single but otherwise overwhelmed Colorado, recording all three of his outs on punchouts. Scott needed just 10 pitches to record that trio of strikeouts, and he notched an impressive six whiffs on those offerings. He is tied for the third in the league with six saves on the season and has posted a standout 10:0 K:BB over 10 innings.

  • Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Notches fifth save

Scott earned a save against the Rockies on Monday, allowing two hits and striking out one batter over one scoreless inning. It wasn't the easiest save for Scott, as he allowed two of the first three batters he faced to reach base while trying to protect a two-run ninth-inning lead. However, the left-hander recovered to retire the final two batters of the frame, resulting in his fifth save. Scott has emerged as the Dodgers' top option for ninth-inning work, as he's converted five of six save opportunities so far while posting a 3.00 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 7:0 K:BB over nine innings.
