  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Monster postseason continues

Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a walk, a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Yankees in Game 3 of the American League Division Series. Guerrero smacked a two-run shot in the first inning and scored on an impressive head-first slide in the third. Despite his best efforts to put them away, the Yankees rallied from a 6-1 deficit to win the game and stay alive in the series. The 26-year-old Guerrero is now batting .615 this postseason (8-for-13) as he makes good on all the hype and promise that accompanied his arrival to the major leagues.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Launches grand slam in Game 2

Guerrero went 3-for-5 with a grand slam and two runs scored in Sunday's 13-7 win over the Yankees in Game 2 of the ALDS. Guerrero singled in the first and third innings, coming around to score following the latter hit on a double by Daulton Varsho. The first baseman then made his biggest mark on the game in bottom of the fourth, launching a one-out grand slam off Will Warren, giving Toronto a 9-0 lead. Guerrero has now gone 6-for-9 with two home runs, six RBI and three runs scored over the first two games of the ALDS.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Drives in two runs in win

Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a two-run double and a run scored during the Blue Jays' 8-5 win over the Royals on Sunday. Guerrero entered Sunday's game having gone just 4-for-27 (.148) over his past seven outings. He was better at the plate in Sunday's series finale and gave the Blue Jays a three-run lead in the fifth with a two-run double before coming home to score on an Addison Barger RBI double. Since the All-Star break, Guerrero has a .953 OPS with one steal, 11 home runs and 37 RBI over 242 plate appearances.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Goes yard in four-hit effort

Guerrero went 4-for-5 with a solo home run and two additional runs scored in Friday's 7-1 win over the Yankees. The first baseman took former teammate Ryan Yarbrough deep in the fifth inning, as Guerrero homered for the second straight game and racked up multiple hits for the third straight. A minor hamstring strain in late August derailed him at the plate for a spell -- he went 1-for-22 over an eight-game skid that ended Aug. 30 -- but since then he's been locked in, going 11-for-21 over his last five contests with five RBI, nine runs and a 4:0 BB:K.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Back in Toronto lineup

Guerrero (hamstring) will start at designated hitter and bat third in Monday's game versus the Twins. Guerrero made a pinch-hitting appearance during Sunday's loss to Miami, but he'll be making his first start in a week as he comes back from left hamstring inflammation. The Blue Jays will ease him back into action at DH, while Ty France stays in the starting nine at first base.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Makes cameo as pinch hitter

Guerrero (hamstring) made a pinch-hit appearance in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Marlins, popping out in his lone at-bat in the eighth inning. After not appearing in any of the Blue Jays' previous four games due to left hamstring inflammation, Guerrero was summoned from the bench in a high-leverage spot, stepping into the batter's box with two outs and two runners on base with Toronto down two runs. Though he wasn't able to come through in the clutch, Guerrero's usage Sunday offers hope that he'll be able to avoid a stint on the injured list. Guerrero may not be ready to play first base right away, but the Blue Jays could deploy him at designated hitter in Monday's series opener versus the Twins.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Sitting out again Saturday

Guerrero (hamstring) isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's contest against Miami. Guerrero is out of the lineup for Toronto's fourth straight game while he battles left hamstring inflammation. The star first baseman participated in pre-game warmups Friday, taking batting practice and doing sprints at about 80 percent effort, but manager John Schneider indicated that the team wants to take a cautious approach with Guerrero's return, per Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca. "Trying to learn from past injuries of that nature, we definitely can't afford to lose him for an extended period of time, so we're being cautious, yeah, but at the same time trying to get him back to him," Schneider said of Guerrero on Friday. Meanwhile, the slugger suggested that he's not in for a long-term absence, saying, "It's going to be soon, but we've got to take it day by day." Ty France has stepped in at first base while Guerrero has been out and is starting there again while batting sixth Saturday.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Could be available off bench

Guerrero (hamstring) participated in pre-game warmups ahead of Friday's contest against the Marlins and could be available off the bench, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports. Guerrero has been out of the Blue Jays' lineup since leaving Monday's game against the Pirates due to left hamstring tightness. The good news is that he was cleared to participate in pre-game activities Friday, sprinting on the field before hitting in the batting cage. Guerrero should still be considered day-to-day, but there's a chance he returns to the lineup at some point during Toronto's three-game road series in Miami. Ty France is starting at first base in Friday's series opener.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Out of lineup again Friday

Guerrero (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Friday's game in Miami. Guerrero hasn't played since injuring his left hamstring during Monday's contest in Pittsburgh. He's been diagnosed with inflammation rather than a strain, so Guerrero could be back in the lineup any day. In the meantime, Ty France will draw another start at first base Friday.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Held out again Wednesday

Guerrero (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Pittsburgh. Guerrero will sit out for a second straight game after he tweaked his left hamstring in Monday's 5-2 loss. He's been diagnosed merely with inflammation rather than a strain, so Guerrero could be ready to play Friday in Miami after the Blue Jays' team off day Thursday. Ty France will again cover first base for Toronto in Wednesday's series finale.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Dealing with inflammation

Manager John Schneider said Guerrero, who is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates, was diagnosed with left hamstring inflammation and is considered day-to-day, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. The 26-year-old suffered the injury during Monday's contest, but an MRI showed that he's avoided a serious injury. The Blue Jays have a scheduled day off Thursday, and Guerrero could be held out again Wednesday if the club chooses to play it safe with the franchise first baseman.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Slated for MRI

Guerrero (hamstring) will undergo an MRI on Monday night, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. This should help the club determine next steps for the slugger, who exited Monday's game early with left hamstring tightness. Matheson notes that Guerrero's removal may have been precautionary, though the team won't know for sure until viewing his scans.

Guerrero launched his 18th homer of the year to right-center field off Victor Vodnik in the eighth inning. The 26-year-old slugger was a big part of Toronto's record-setting trip to the Coors Field, going 8-for-17 with two doubles, two homers, four RBI and seven runs over the three games, and both long balls were to the opposite field -- a very strong sign that Guerrero's getting his swing locked in and gearing up for a big finish to the summer.
