  • Reds' Miguel Andujar: Exiting starting nine Sunday

Andujar is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks. Since joining the Reds on July 31 after being acquired from the Athletics, Andujar is slashing a sizzling .358/.414/.623 with three home runs in his first 17 games with his new team. He should continue to occupy a prominent spot in the heart of the lineup whenever he starts, but Andujar will hit the bench for the second time in the series while the Reds use Austin Hays at designated hitter and Gavin Lux, TJ Friedl and Nolevi Marte at the outfield spots.

He's slashing .387/.472/.742 with three home runs, two doubles, nine RBI and eight runs scored over 11 games in a Cincinnati uniform. • Reds' Miguel Andujar: Late addition to lineup

Andujar is replacing Gavin Lux in Saturday's starting lineup against Atlanta, batting fifth and playing left field, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports. Lux was originally slated to start against righty Spencer Strider, but Strider was scratched as a result of a lengthy weather delay. Atlanta is now deploying lefty Austin Cox as an opener, and the Reds are countering by swapping in the righty-hitting Andujar for the lefty-hitting Lux.

  • Reds' Miguel Andujar: Dealt to Cincy

The Reds acquired Andujar from the Athletics on Thursday in exchange for right-hander Kenya Huggins, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. After hitting two home runs Wednesday in what will end up being his final game with the Athletics, Andujar will pack his bags and leave for Cincinnati. Although the Reds acquired Ke'Bryan Hayes from Pittsburgh on Wednesday and will likely lean on him as its primary third baseman. Andujar's .765 OPS should make him a viable backup option on days when the Reds want to prioritize offense at the hot corner. Andujar is also capable of playing either corner-outfield spot as well as designated hitter, though his right-handedness could force him to settle for the short side of a platoon with Jake Fraley, Gavin Lux or Will Benson.

After being activated from the injured list Wednesday, Andujar has proceeded to start at third base in three of the Athletics' ensuing five games, going 2-for-12 with a walk. • Athletics' Miguel Andujar: Back from injured list

The Athletics reinstated Andujar (oblique) from the injured list Wednesday. Andujar has been on the IL since the beginning of June due to a strained right oblique. He began playing in rehab games last Wednesday and went 4-for-18 with two runs scored in five games at Triple-A Las Vegas. • Athletics' Miguel Andujar: Cleared for rehab assignment

Andujar (oblique) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Andujar has resided on the injured list since June 2 due to a Grade 2 right oblique strain, but after incurring no setbacks when he recently resumed baseball activities, he's been cleared for game action in the minors. The 30-year-old will serve as Las Vegas' designated hitter Wednesday, but the Athletics will likely want to ensure that he can play third base and/or the corner outfield before activating him from the IL. Once he's reinstated, Andujar will likely overtake Max Muncy and Luis Urias as the Athletics' preferred option at the hot corner.

  • Athletics' Miguel Andujar: Out with Grade 2 strain

Athletics director of sports medicine Brian Schulman said June 2 that Andujar is recovering from a Grade 2 right oblique strain, which will keep him out for "a couple weeks, if not longer," MLB.com reports. Andujar landed on the 10-day injured list June 2 after suffering the oblique injury on a swing a day earlier. He's eligible to come off the IL this weekend, but Andujar doesn't appear to have resumed baseball activities yet and could be sidelined at least until late June or early July.

  • Athletics' Miguel Andujar: Moved to 10-day IL

Andujar (oblique) was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday. Skipper Mark Kotsay indicated Sunday that a trip to the injured list was on the table for Andujar, and the club made the move official Monday. JJ Bleday was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move.

  • Athletics' Miguel Andujar: Leaves early with oblique injury

Andujar was removed in the bottom of the fifth inning of Sunday's game against the Blue Jays due to right oblique discomfort, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. He went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored before departing. The Athletics haven't clarified when Andujar sustained the injury, but he may have tweaked his side at some point during his plate appearance in the top half of the inning, when he grounded into a fielder's choice. Though he stayed in the game and came around to score on Luis Urias' double, Andujar was lifted in favor of Max Schuemann when the Athletics returned to the field for the bottom of the frame. Andujar will presumably be put through some tests as the Athletics look to determine the severity of his oblique issue, but it won't be surprising if the 30-year-old needs to go on the 10-day injured list.

  • Athletics' Miguel Andujar: Delivers three-hit effort

Andujar went 3-for-6 with one RBI and one run scored in Saturday's 9-6 extra-inning loss to the Phillies. Andujar has hit safely in five straight games since returning from right rib soreness that kept him out of a couple of contests. He is 8-for-22 (.364) since rejoining the lineup, and he continues to carve out decent playing time between third base, designated hitter and right field, which is where he started Saturday before moving to the hot corner later in the game. Overall, Andujar has been excellent at the plate this season, slashing .320/.350/.435 with three home runs, 20 RBI, 16 runs scored and a stolen base over 39 contests.

Andujar (ribs) is starting at third and batting sixth against the Angels on Tuesday. Andujar was absent from Monday's series opener versus the Angels after being scratched from the lineup due to right rib soreness. The injury is not serious as suspected, so the 30-year-old is set to return to action Tuesday.
