  • Pirates' Mitch Keller: Roughed up again Tuesday

Keller (5-12) took the loss Tuesday against the Blue Jays, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out four in 3.1 innings.

Keller struggled out of the gates, allowing three runs in the opening frame while needing 33 pitches to complete the inning. George Springer then punished him in the second with a two-run blast to put the Pirates in a quick 5-0 hole. In six starts since the All-Star break, Keller owns an 8.31 ERA and 2.08 WHIP and has completed six frames only once. He lines up for a road start against the Cardinals to begin next week.

  • Pirates' Mitch Keller: Can't slow down Brew Crew

Keller (5-11) took the loss Wednesday, surrendering six runs on eight hits and two walks over four innings as the Pirates were downed 12-5 by the Brewers. He struck out five.

The right-hander couldn't stop Milwaukee from winning its 12th straight game, getting tagged for more than five runs for the first time since June 5 and getting handed his first loss since June 21. Since the latter outing, Keller has posted a 4.34 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 39:15 K:BB through 47.2 innings over nine starts. He'll look to rebound in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come at home early next week against the Blue Jays.

  • Pirates' Mitch Keller: Solid despite command issues

Keller did not factor into the decision in Friday's 3-2 win over the Reds, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts over 5.2 innings.

Keller departed an out shy of a quality start after allowing two baserunners in the sixth inning, one of whom came around to score. The 29-year-old threw just 56 of 97 pitches for strikes with only six whiffs, but the two earned runs marked his lowest total in four starts since the All-Star break. He'll carry a 3.86 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 107:37 K:BB across 137.2 innings into a road matchup with the Brewers next week.

  • Pirates' Mitch Keller: Struggles with long ball in win

Keller (5-10) earned the win Sunday against the Rockies, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out four over five innings.

Keller cruised through the first five frames Sunday, but things unraveled quickly in the sixth when he surrendered back-to-back-to-back home runs to Mickey Moniak, Hunter Goodman and Jordan Beck before exiting. Despite the rough ending, the Pirates' offense provided enough run support to secure the win for Keller. The 29-year-old hasn't looked sharp since the All-Star break, posting a 7.62 ERA with a 12:7 K:BB over 13 innings in three starts. The right-hander will aim for a cleaner outing in his next scheduled start against the Reds.

  • Pirates' Mitch Keller: Completes just two frames Monday

Keller allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three batters over two innings in a no-decision against San Francisco on Monday.

It was a slog from the start for Keller, who allowed three baserunners and one run in the first inning. The Giants tagged him for two more runs in the second, though Keller at least managed to avoid a disastrous frame by striking out two batters with the bases loaded. However, the right-hander finished that inning at 73 pitches -- just 42 of which were strikes -- and didn't return for the third. This was Keller's shortest outing of the campaign and the first time in 20 starts that he's failed to complete five frames. Pittsburgh was able to pull out the win, however, so Keller remains without a loss on his record since June 21.
