  • Anthony Gose: Sent packing by Arizona

The Diamondbacks released Gose on Aug. 1. The 35-year-old lefty made three relief appearances in the majors with Cleveland in 2024 but has pitched exclusively in the minors so far this season. Over 35 appearances between the Diamondbacks' and Mets' Triple-A affiliates, Gose has logged a 4.62 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 41:23 K:BB in 37 innings.

  • Diamondbacks' Anthony Gose: Joining Arizona

Gose agreed to a contract with the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. The specifics of the deal aren't clear, but Gose quickly linked up with the Diamondbacks after being released from his minor-league contract with the Mets on Monday. The left-hander posted a 4.30 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 25:14 K:BB across 23 innings at the Triple-A level with New York.

  • Mets' Anthony Gose: Cut from big-league camp

The Mets reassigned Gose to minor-league camp Monday. Gose has turned in a 4.78 ERA and 41:17 K:BB in 32 innings over parts of three seasons in the majors as a pitcher since he made the conversion from the outfield earlier in his career, but the 34-year-old lefty was attending big-league camp as a non-roster invitee and faced an uphill battle to win a spot in the Mets' Opening Day bullpen. He's likely to begin the season in a relief role at Triple-A Syracuse.

  • Mets' Anthony Gose: NRI deal with Mets

The Mets signed Gose to a minor-league contract Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. A converted outfielder, Gose holds a 4.78 ERA but a 41:17 K:BB over 32 innings at the big-league level. The 34-year-old will be a long shot to win a spot in the Mets' bullpen.

  • Guardians' Anthony Gose: Accepts outright assignment

The Guardians outrighted Gose to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday. Gose has now been removed from the Guardians' 40-man roster and subsequently cleared waivers four times in just over a month. The left-handed reliever has allowed five runs over 4.1 innings covering three appearances during his time with the Guardians this season.

  • Guardians' Anthony Gose: Receives call-up

The Guardians selected Gose's contract from Triple-A Columbus on Sunday. The left-hander elected free agency after being designated for assignment by Cleveland in late August, though he re-signed on a minor-league deal a few days later. Gose has pitched in just two big-league games this season but has a 3.27 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 58:26 K:BB across 41.1 innings at Triple-A.

  • Guardians' Anthony Gose: Re-ups with Cleveland

Gose re-signed with the Guardians on a minor-league contract Saturday. Gose has now re-signed with the Guardians on two occasions within the past month after electing free agency when he was twice outrighted off Cleveland's 40-man roster. The 34-year-old could get another call-up at some point in September if the Guardians require another lefty in the bullpen, but even in that scenario, he's unlikely to maintain a 40-man roster spot heading into 2025.

  • Guardians' Anthony Gose: DFA'd yet again

The Guardians designated Gose for assignment Wednesday, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports. The 34-year-old lefty reliever has now been dropped from the Guardians' 40-man roster three times within the past three weeks and will most likely clear waivers again and stick around in the Cleveland organization. The Guardians called up lefty Erik Sabrowski to replace Gose on the roster and in the bullpen. Gose has made two appearances for the big club this month, giving up three earned runs on six hits and one walk over 3.1 innings.

  • Guardians' Anthony Gose: Remains in organization

The Guardians outrighted Gose to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday. Gose was removed from the Guardians' 40-man roster last week, but he has cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment to Columbus. The left-handed reliever allowed two runs over 1.1 innings in his lone appearance in the majors this season.

  • Guardians' Anthony Gose: Contract selected

The Guardians selected Gose's contract from Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports. The left-hander will join the big-league roster for the first time since 2022, when he underwent Tommy John surgery late in the season. Gose has pitched well at Triple-A this season with a 3.29 ERA and 55:23 K:BB over 38.1 innings.

  • Guardians' Anthony Gose: Invited to big-league camp

Gose (elbow) was invited to major-league spring training. Gose will have an opportunity to show what he can do against big-league hitters to begin camp. He missed the entire 2023 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, so this will be a good test for the southpaw, who made 22 appearances for the Guardians in 2022 (4.71 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 21.0 innings).

  • Anthony Gose: Parts ways with Cleveland

The Guardians declined to tender Gose (elbow) a contract for 2023, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports. A converted outfielder, Gose showed real promise as a relief pitcher before suffering a triceps injury that ultimately led to Tommy John surgery in September. He will miss all of next season, though another team might be intrigued enough to bring Gose in right away on a two-year deal.

  • Guardians' Anthony Gose: Designated for assignment

Gose (elbow) was designated for assignment by the Guardians on Tuesday. The left-hander underwent Tommy John surgery in September and is poised to miss the entire 2023 campaign, so Cleveland won't carry him on the 40-man roster through the offseason. Gose had a 4.71 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 28:14 K:BB over 21 innings prior to landing on the injured list.

  • Guardians' Anthony Gose: Undergoes Tommy John surgery

Gose (triceps) underwent Tommy John surgery Wednesday, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports. Gose has been sidelined since early July with a triceps injury, but he apparently was dealing with some elbow damage as well, and the decision was made to send him under the knife. Gose will need 12-to-18 months to recover from the procedure, so he has an outside shot to return to action late in the 2023 season. However, it's more likely that he does not take the mound again until sometime in 2024.

  • Guardians' Anthony Gose: Goes to 60-day injured list

Gose (triceps) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Monday, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. It's unclear where Gose stands in his recovery from a triceps injury, but he is apparently not close to getting back on the mound. He will be eligible to return to action Sept. 1.

  • Guardians' Anthony Gose: Lands on injured list

Gose was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a strained left triceps. The converted outfielder has been unable to build on the success he enjoyed out of the bullpen last season, and now he will be sidelined at least through the All-Star break with this injury. Walks and homers have both been a problem. While Gose has vultured three wins, he doesn't have a single hold on the campaign, and that speaks to manager Terry Francona's lack of trust in the lefty.

  • Guardians' Anthony Gose: Picks up third win

Gose (3-0) struck out two in a scoreless inning to earn the win Friday over the Dodgers. Gose got the last two outs in the ninth inning to keep the game tied, and he added one more out in the 10th before Enyel De Los Santos closed out the game. This was just the fourth appearance in June for Gose, but he's allowed only one run, two hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in four innings. Less frequent usage appears to have benefited the southpaw, who now has a 4.11 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB across 15.1 innings. He'll be in the mix for mid-to-high-leverage work as part of the bridge to closer Emmanuel Clase.

  • Guardians' Anthony Gose: Clean inning in loss

Gose pitched a perfect inning in Tuesday's 7-3 loss to the Astros. Gose hadn't pitched since May 13, as he's seen a reduction in usage after a rough start to the month. Tuesday's appearance was a step in the right direction and also his second straight scoreless outing. The southpaw has a 4.76 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 14:6 K:BB and a 1-0 record in 11.1 innings across 12 appearances. So far, he's yet to see consistent high-leverage work.

  • Guardians' Anthony Gose: Surrenders homer Monday

Gose allowed three runs (two earned) on a hit and a walk with one strikeout in one inning during Monday's 12-9 extra-innings win over the White Sox. Gose made a mess of the eighth inning, which was punctuated by an AJ Pollock three-run home run. The Guardians then rallied to tie the game with six runs in the ninth. Gose has kept runs off the board in seven of his 10 appearances, but he's given up six runs (five earned) in 3.1 innings in May. The southpaw owns a 5.79 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB in 9.1 innings overall.

  • Guardians' Anthony Gose: Can't maintain lead

Gose allowed a run on a hit and struck out one in two-thirds of an innings in Tuesday's 10-5 win over the Reds. He was charged with a blown save. Gose entered the game in the sixth inning in relief of starter Shane Bieber, who exited after allowing an RBI double to Jonathan India. Gose then promptly gave up a two-run, game-tying home run to Tyler Naquin. While it'll count as a blown save, Gose has yet to receive a traditional save opportunity. He'll continue to be part of a late-inning mix leading up to closer Emmanuel Clase, who has been shaky to begin the season.
