AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell1H agoFinal: Padres 7, Giants 1 They needed that one. Nick Pivetta was excellent. Ramón Laureano homered and remains red hot. The rest of the offense -- specifically Gavin Sheets -- broke out, too. The Padres are 2-4 after their opening homestand. -

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell1H agoRamón Laureano homers and the Padres have scored 4+ for the first time this season. (They hadn't begun a season with six games of three runs or fewer since their inaugural 1969 campaign.) https://t.co/1Rip1DKpts -
AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell2H agoMason Miller wasn't available for four outs on Friday night. "It will be an option at some point in the season," Craig Stammen said. "Some point in the season" is evidently today. On comes Miller with the Padres leading 3-1 in the eighth. -
AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell2H agoThe Padres lead 2-0 after 5. They've scored both runs on ground balls to third base where Matt Chapman/Casey Schmitt combined to not make a play. -

Kevin Acee@sdutKevinAcee19H ago“Yeah, we’re not playing our best right now.” Two big innings by Giants, poor all-around play doom Padres https://t.co/5RiPBQCLAL https://t.co/SMeSyMpK6S -
AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell19H agoFinal: Giants 9, Padres 3 One turn through, and the questions about the back of the Padres' rotation seem as valid as ever. Germán Márquez was hit hard. The bullpen failed to keep it close after his early exit. The Padres will finish their opening homestand without a series win.
