The White Sox have claimed right-hander Maikel Cleto off waivers and designated second baseman Jake Elmore for assignment.
The 24-year-old Cleto has struggled mightily in big league competition. In shorts stints over three seasons he has yielded 25 hits and 18 earned runs in 15 2/3 innings.
