Rangers third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff might need surgery to repair the herniated disc in his back according to MLB.com, though the team wants to give him some time to heal before a decision is made.
Kouzmanoff was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday, and traveled to Texas earlier in the week to receive an epidural injection in the back. If he responds well to that over the weekend, he may avoid surgery, though that remains a distinct possibility at this point.
Kouzmanoff was hitting .362 with two home runs and 10 RBI in 13 games since joining the Rangers.
