Cody Asche is the Phillies' new starting left fielder, manager Ryne Sandberg said Friday. Sandberg also said Ben Revere will move to right field and get "spot starts" in center field, per the Philadelphia Daily News.
Asche was recalled from the minors Friday after playing 15 games in left field for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. To clear a roster spot, outfielder Grady Sizemore was designated for assignment.
Sizemore saw most of his playing time in right field, but this news also impacts Jeff Francoeur, who has started a team-high 25 games in right field.
