Rockies pitchers Brown, Hale continue to make progress
Injured Rockies pitchers Brooks Brown (shoulder) and David Hale (groin) are both making progress, manager Walt Weiss said Wednesday. Both players are on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque.
Hale made his first rehab start Friday. He allowed six runs (five earned) on five hits and two walks in 2 2/3 innings. He struck out three and threw 66 pitches (38 strikes).
"He's going to be built up as a starter, for sure," Weiss said, per MLB.com. "He's got a few [more rehab] starts to make, but health-wise, David's doing well. No issues with the groin."
Brown has made two relief appearances on his rehab assignment. He has allowed one hit and no walks, while striking out one in two innings.
"Not sure he's exactly where he needs to be quite yet, but he's working his way back," Weiss said. "I don't know exactly what day that is. But we felt like he'd be a little bit behind, and that's where he's at. So there are no big surprises there."
