Pirates first baseman Pedro Alvarez clubbed a home run Monday against the Cardinals.
Alvarez didn't wait long before he struck. In his first at-bat, Alvarez belted a 92 mph fastball out to center for a solo shot. He would also single later in the contest. Alvarez finished 2 for 4, with one run scored and one RBI. It was his 18th home run.
