The Padres activated infielder Cory Spangenberg from the disabled list on Friday, per U-T San Diego.
Spangenberg had been out since June 27 with a bone bruise in his left knee.
To make room on the roster, the Padres optioned left hander Frank Garces to Triple-A El Paso. Garces had a 4.94 ERA in 34 relief appearances with the Padres.
