Brewers shortstop Jean Segura appears to have avoided a worst-case scenario, after he was accidentally struck in the face with a bat in the dugout early Saturday.
Segura left the game in the first inning, after Ryan Braun's practice swing inadvertently caught him near the eye. Fortunately, manager Ron Roenicke confirmed via the team's official twitter account that Segura suffered neither a concussion nor any sort of fracture as a result.
Segura's status moving forward is not yet known, but this news could help him avoid an extended layoff.
