Mets pitcher Rafael Montero picked up tightness in the back of his throwing shoulder after his start Tuesday, assistant general manager John Ricco said per ESPN.com.
Montero is going back to New York for further evaluation after being optioned to Triple-A after his first start Tuesday. He is expected to remain with Triple-A Las Vegas, but it could be rescinded and placed on the MLB disabled list if warranted, according to ESPN.
Montero allowed three runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings of work against Miami Tuesday.
