The Braves acquired utilityman Jeff Baker from the Tigers Friday in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Baker was designated for assignment by the Tigers earlier in the day.
Baker has hit .254/.293/.408 in 181 plate appearances between the Tigers and the Cubs this year while appearing at first base, second base, third base, left field and right field.
Baker's main value for the Braves will be against left-handed pitching, as the veteran has a .298/.346/.505 line against lefties in his career.
