Anthony Rendon leaves with thumb injury

Nationals infielder Anthony Rendon was forced to leave Friday's game against the Padres late, with a left thumb injury.

Rendon took a groundball off his hand, and had to be replaced in the field in the sixth inning. After the game, the team announced that X-rays on the thumb came back negative, and he was diagnosed with a jammed left thumb.

Rendon will likely be re-evaluated prior to Saturday's game against the Padres, so his status for the remainder of the series in San Diego is not yet known.
