Benak was named the NCHC Rookie of the Week on Tuesday.
Benak had two goals and an assist as Western Michigan University swept its two-game weekend series against the University of Notre Dame. Benak is up to seven points across four games for the Broncos this season. The Wild prospect was a standout with 77 points in 48 regular-season games for OHL Brantford last year, and his offense is already translating well in college hockey.
