McDonald was recalled from AHL Lehigh Valley on Sunday.
McDonald has notched one goal, three points and a plus-4 rating over six games with the Phantoms this season. The 24-year-old will serve as depth on the Flyers' blue line as a result of Cam York (upper body) being placed on injured reserve Sunday.
