Heinen was placed on waivers by the Blue Jackets on Wednesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Heinen spent the first month of the regular season with the Blue Jackets and was held scoreless with nine blocked shots and eight hits while averaging 10:10 of ice time across 10 appearances. He'll head to AHL Cleveland if he goes unclaimed on waivers, while Isac Lundestrom (Achilles) has resumed skating and appears to be close to returning to action.
