  • Chuba Hubbard RB | CAR

Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Trending in right direction

Hubbard (ankle) and interim head coach Steve Wilks both said Monday that they feel good about the possibility of the running back playing Week 9, Steve Reed of the Associated Press and Joe Person of The Athletic report.

Hubbard wasn't able to practice during Week 8 prep due to an ankle injury he picked up Week 7. However, it appears the time off was beneficial for the running back, and he'll have a shot to play Sunday against the Bengals. With Christian McCaffrey gone, D'Onta Foreman has dominated over the last two games, but if Hubbard is available, expect him to carve out a role as well this weekend.

  • Deon Jackson RB | DET

Colts' Deon Jackson: Just one carry in loss

Jackson lost four yards on his lone carry in Sunday's loss to Washington.

Jackson played just two snaps on offense as he has a limited reserve role with both Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines healthy.

  • 49ers' Tyrion Davis-Price: No playing time Sunday

Davis-Price did not log any snaps in Sunday's 31-14 win over the Rams.

Davis-Price was active for this contest, but he wasn't used in any capacity in the win. The addition of star running back Christian McCaffrey (26 touches) and the presence of veteran backup Jeff Wilson (six touches) pushes the rookie back into a reserve role moving forward. Davis-Price and the 49ers will resume play after the upcoming bye week against the Chargers on Nov. 13.

  • D'Andre Swift RB | CHI

Lions' D'Andre Swift: Still not 100 percent

Swift (ankle/shoulder) said Monday that he's still not 100 percent, but he anticipates having a larger role moving forward, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports.

Swift totaled 18 touches for 175 yards and a touchdown during the season opener but has been limited during his three appearances since. He sat out for a month (three games plus Detroit's Week 6 bye) and returned to action against Miami in Week 8, totaling 10 touches for 33 yards and a score. His much-anticipated return left fantasy managers wanting more, but it's encouraging to see the talented running back make it through the contest without suffering a setback. Despite admitting he's not 100 percent and saying the injuries still are impacting him "a little bit," Swift expressed confidence that his role will continue to grow as he puts the lingering injuries behind him.

  • Gus Edwards RB | LAC

Ravens' Gus Edwards: Day-to-day with hamstring

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Edwards has a mild hamstring injury and is considered day-to-day, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

Edwards tweaked his right hamstring during the fourth quarter of Thursday's win over Tampa Bay, and as expected, he's avoided a significant issue and could play next Monday against New Orleans. However, if he's unable to suit up, Kenyan Drake, Justice Hill and Mike Davis would all be candidates for increased opportunities Week 9. Edwards' participation in practice will likely provide further clarity on the running back's availability.

  • Lions' Craig Reynolds: Tiny role in Swift's return

Reynolds rushed twice for seven yards and was not able to secure his lone target during Sunday's loss to the Dolphins.

With D'Andre Swift back in the fold, Reynolds saw his second-lowest snap share of the season while Swift and Jamaal Williams handled the near entirety of the rushing workload. Unless one of those two misses time again, Reynolds' offensive role should remain miniscule.

  • Patriots' Pierre Strong: Records 13 snaps on special teams

Strong logged 13 special-teams snaps in Sunday's 22-17 win over the Jets.

Through six games this season, the 2022 fourth-rounder -- who didn't see any snaps on offense Week 8 -- has recorded just one carry for five yards. Strong is off the fantasy radar for now, with Rhamondre Stevenson and Damien Harris currently entrenched atop the Patriots' running back depth chart.

  • Ameer Abdullah RB | JAC

Raiders' Ameer Abdullah: Four receptions Sunday

Abdullah caught four passes for 28 yards on five targets in Sunday's 24-0 loss to the Saints.

Abdullah has caught a total of six passes over the Raiders' past two contests, but three of his receptions came in the fourth quarter Sunday when the Saints had already built a 24-point lead. Fellow backup Brandon Bolden played just one offensive snap to Abdullah's 20, indicating the latter may have a firmer grasp on the pass-down role again Week 9 against the Jaguars.

  • Ronnie Rivers RB | LAR

Rams' Ronnie Rivers: Leads team in carries

Rivers had eight carries for 21 yards and secured all four of his targets for 15 yards during Sunday's 31-14 loss to the 49ers.

Fresh off a practice squad promotion Saturday, the undrafted rookie out of Fresno State handled more carries than Malcolm Brown or Darrell Henderson, who had been limited in practice due to an illness, while Cam Akers (personal) was again inactive. Though Rivers wasn't efficient in the second appearance of his NFL career, he's worth a speculative add in most fantasy formats due to the unsettled nature of Los Angeles' backfield. Rivers is set to shift back to the practice squad Monday, but another elevation to the gameday roster in Week 9 is possible.

  • Avery Williams RB | NYJ

Falcons' Avery Williams: Gets work in passing attack

Williams had zero carries but reeled in both of his targets for seven yards during Sunday's 37-34 overtime win over the Panthers.

Caleb Huntley (16 rushes for 91 yards) and Tyler Allgeier (14 rushes for 39 yards) continue to handle the majority of the rushing attempts with Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) on IR, leaving Williams to operate merely as a depth option. Across eight appearances, the second-year pro has totaled 17 touches for 91 yards and a score, but he remains on the outskirts of fantasy relevancy.
