Giants' Cam Skattebo: Expected to be OK after hamstring tweak

Cam Skattebo is expected to "OK" after tweaking his hamstring on a 42-yard run in overtime during Sunday's 27-21 win over the Texans, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.Skattebo's explosive run put the New York Giants within field-goal range before he was subbed out for Devin Singeltary, who ran up the middle for a 30-yard score to seal the win on the very next play. Though he told Dan Graziano of ESPN.com after the game that he "felt something" in his hamstring that prompted him to slide down at the end of his run rather than being tackled to the ground, Skattebo doesn't sound like he'll require an MRI and should be ready to play in the Giants' next game Nov. 8 versus the Eagles following a Week 8 bye. After being limited to just six snaps in the Week 6 loss to the Saints following a string of poor outings to begin the campaign, Skattebo stepped back into a lead role out of the backfield in Sunday's victory and delivered his best performance of the season, finishing with 121 total yards and a touchdown on 18 touches.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Suffers hamstring injury

Cam Skattebo told Dan Graziano of ESPN after Sunday's 27-21 overtime win at Houston that he "felt something in his hamstring" during his final carry of the game. One week removed from not receiving a touch while playing six offensive snaps in a loss to the Saints, Skattebo was back in the saddle in the New York Giants backfield this Sunday, turning 17 rushes into 124 yards and one touchdown and gathering in his only target for minus-3 yards. Meanwhile, fellow RBs Devin Singletary and Tyrone Tracy (hamstring) combined for 15 touches in Week 7. Both Skattebo and Tracy emerged from this contest with health concerns, but with a Week 8 bye on tap for New York, both players will have time to rest up for the team's next game Sunday, Nov. 8 in Philadelphia.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Slated to resume role as RB1

Cam Skattebo is expected to resume his role as the New York Giants' lead running back in Sunday's game at Houston, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.Skattebo ranked fourth in offensive snaps (six of 77) among Giants running backs behind Devin Singletary (31), Tyrone Tracy (29) and Najee Harris (11) last Sunday against the Saints, failing to log a touch in the process. The team has since released Harris, and Skattebo's brief benching appears to be over. It's unclear who among Skattebo, SIngletary and Tracy will get the start this Sunday, but the former did average 18.2 touches per game through the first five weeks of the campaign.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Expected to be back in mix for Week 7

Head coach John Harbaugh said Friday that Cam Skattebo had a "good week" of practice and that the second-year running back should be back in the mix for backfield touches against the Texans on Sunday, Jordan Ranaan of ESPN.com reports.Skattebo didn't log a single carry during the New York Giants' 34-27 loss to the Saints in Week 6, spending most of the game on the bench. That lack of production stemmed from his critical fumble during overtime against the Commanders in Week 5, but following the release of Najee Harris on Tuesday, Ranaan indicates that Skattebo is expected to reclaim a key role in the Giants' backfield this weekend alongside Tyrone Tracy, with Devin Singletary also in line for work.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Zero touches in Week 6 loss

Cam Skattebo played only six snaps and got zero carries or targets in the New York Giants' 34-27 loss to the Saints on Sunday. One week after losing a key fumble in a 27-27 tie to the Commanders, Skattebo was removed from his starting job as the Giants' backfield devolved into a four-man committee. Tyrone Tracy was the team's most productive back, scoring one rushing and one receiving TD but managing just 45 scrimmage yards on eight touches, while Devin Singletary had 33 yards on five touches and Najee Harris eked out just two rushing yards on four carries. With no one really stepping up in his place, Skattebo could return to a more significant role in Week 7 against the Texans, but it will be hard to trust any New York RB in fantasy lineups until one of them emerges from the pack.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Could be headed for lighter workload

Cam Skattebo had a "pretty even split in reps" this week with fellow running back Najee Harris and could be in store for fewer snaps and touches than usual in Sunday's game against the Saints, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.Coming off a significant ankle injury that cut short his rookie season, Skattebo has handled a lead role out of the New York backfield through the first five games, playing no fewer than 57 percent of snaps on any occasion while averaging 18.2 touches per contest. The second-year back hasn't shown the same burst he displayed in 2025, however, averaging just 3.6 yards per carry and 7.9 yards per reception while finding the end zone only once. Perhaps more troublingly, Skattebo has struggled with ball security, fumbling four times and losing one. As a result of Skattebo's poor form to begin the season, the New York Giants may be compelled to lighten his workload Sunday and open up more opportunities for Harris compared to previous weeks.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Loses key fumble in Week 5 tie

Cam Skattebo rushed 13 times for 59 yards and caught two of three targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 27-27 tie against the Commanders. He also lost a fumble. After a quiet performance in regulation, Skattebo saved his best and worst moments for overtime. He racked up 40 of his 71 scrimmage yards in OT, but Skattebo fumbled on Washington's 24-yard line as the New York Giants were in range for a potential game-winning field-goal attempt. That mistake was matched by a clock-management error on the other end, which prevented the Commanders from attempting a game-winning field goal of their own prior to the end of OT. Skattebo will be motivated to atone for his fumble in Week 6 against the Saints' leaky run defense.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Ready for Sunday

Cam Skattebo (shoulder) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game in Washington, Dan Salomone of the New York Giants' official site reports.Skattebo was limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday due to a shoulder injury, which he touched on Friday when he told Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com that he dealt with a "little muscle tightness." With his status now not in question for Week 5, Skattebo will continue to operate as the Giants' lead runner, as he's turned his 76 touches into 302 yards from scrimmage and one TD in four contests this season.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Dealing with shoulder issue

Cam Skattebo was limited at Wednesday's practice due to a shoulder injury, Dan Salomone of the New York Giants' official site reports.Skattebo has yet to hit 100 rushing yards in a game this season and currently is sitting on 302 yards from scrimmage and one rushing TD on 76 touches through four contests. As the Giants kick off prep for a Week 5 road matchup with the Commanders, he's dealing with a health concern and likely will need to practice fully Thursday or Friday in order to avoid a designation ahead of the weekend.
