Allar completed 11 of 23 passes for 110 yards and turned one carry into four yards during the Steelers' 17-0 preseason loss to the Jets on Friday.
Both Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph sat out of Friday's exhibition contest, leaving Will Howard and Allar to command the Steelers offense. Howard drew the start and played the entire first half but tossed two interceptions in the second quarter. Allar took over for the start of the second half, but he wasn't that much better, going three-and-out on three of seven series while taking three sacks. It looks like Rudolph will be the Steelers' backup QB to Rodgers for the 2026 campaign, so Thursday's preseason finale against the Bills could determine whom between Howard and Allar will be the QB3 on the 53-man roster and who will open the regular season on the practice squad.
