Seahawks' Rashaad Penny: Returns to practice

Penny (knee) returned to practice Wednesday for the first time since tearing his ACL last season, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.

Penny has been on the PUP list all season, but his return to practice will officially open a 21-day window for the team to add the 2018 first-round pick back to the 53-man roster. Given that Penny is a full year removed from the ACL tear, he could be ready to jump right back into game action if the coaching and medical staffs are satisfied with how he looks in practice this week. If cleared to play, Penny would likely jostle with Carlos Hyde for No. 2 duties behind starting running back Chris Carson.
