Coach Pete Carroll said Penny (thigh) may return to practice next week, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports. "Next week should be a really big week for him," Carroll noted. "He's really close."
Penny has missed practice since suffering what Carroll considered a "minor" thigh injury Sunday. Thus, Penny will sit out Saturday's preseason game in Las Vegas, with an aim to get back on the field shortly thereafter. Behind Chris Carson, Penny's pedigree as a 2018 first-rounder likely gives him the best shot for touches in the Seahawks backfield when healthy. But health has been the key issue for Penny in his career, as he's made just three appearances since tearing his ACL in December 2019.
