Head coach Jay Gruden announced Friday that Jones (knee) is out for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Jones was unable to get on the practice field this week due to his knee injury. It remains to be seen how long he will be sidelined, but he will have an extra week to recover before the next game thanks to the Redskins' Week 9 bye. Gruden said Thursday that Rob Kelley would likely be the primary back this week if Jones was unable to go, but he did not confirm that Friday; both Kelley and Chris Thompson figure to see more work in Jones' absence.
