Raiders' Kenyan Drake: Getting surgery on broken ankle

Raiders interim head coach Rich Bisaccia said Monday that Drake will undergo surgery on his right ankle in Birmingham, Ala. later this week, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.

As expected, Drake will require a procedure to address the season-ending fractured right ankle he sustained in Sunday's 17-15 loss to Washington. The Raiders should have a clearer idea on a recovery timeline for Drake once surgery is completed, but he could have a shot at making it back for OTAs in the spring. He'll conclude his first season in Las Vegas with 545 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns on 7.7 touches per game over his 12 appearances. Drake's absence leaves Jalen Richard and Peyton Barber as the lone depth options at running back behind starter Josh Jacobs, who could take on a slightly larger role as a ballcarrier and pass catcher with Drake out of the picture.
