The Panthers decided to keep four running backs after watching the 2015 fifth-round pick rumble for 180 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries this preseason. The impressive exhibition performance may have been enough to keep his spot on the team, but Artis-Payne is unlikely to have a significant role on offense unless fellow power back Jonathan Stewart suffers an injury. The more versatile Fozzy Whittaker is listed as the No. 3 back behind Stewart and Christian McCaffrey.
