Williams gained four yards on three carries and 46 yards on three reception (three targets) in Saturday's preseason game against Denver.
While clearly on track for the top backup job, Williams hasn't done much to challenge starter Ty Montgomery, running for only 30 yards on 14 carries this preseason. Packers offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett hinted a few weeks ago that Williams' work in pass protection could get him on the field, but the rookie is no match for Montgomery when it comes to elusiveness and receiving ability. Green Bay's other two running backs from the 2017 draft, Aaron Jones and Devante Mays, hadn't done much of note this preseason until Jones ripped off a 28-yard gain Saturday night.
