The 49ers released Jones on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of Netflix reports.
Jones was a healthy scratch for Monday's 23-17 win over the Commanders, and he was limited to a rotational role on the defensive line in each of the three prior games. The sixth-year pro will hit the open market and should garner interest from teams looking for veteran depth on the interior defensive line.
