The Colts opted to waive Jones on Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The move was made in order to create room on the roster for returning guard Adam Redmond. Jones spent the latter half of the 2016 season as a healthy scratch after beginning the year as the Redskins' starting tailback. Washington ultimately released him during roster cuts, and he was subsequently claimed by the Colts. Robert Turbin is pretty locked in as Frank Gore's backup, and fourth-round rookie Marlon Mack seemingly has more long-term upside, so it makes sense that Jones would be the odd man out. It should be noted the Bears attempted to claim Jones off waivers last week, so that could be a potential landing spot for the Florida product.
