With quarterback Nick Mullens not receiving a practice squad elevation, Ewers is set to be the backup in Week 3. The quarterback was a healthy scratch for the first two games of the 2026 season as the Jaguars utilized Mullens as the primary backup to Trevor Lawrence, but the 23-year-old will now fulfill the role the team traded for him to fill.
