Football Team's Jaret Patterson: Strictly playing special teams

Patterson played 12 snaps on special teams in Thursday's 30-29 win over the Giants.

The undrafted rookie out of Buffalo has four snaps on offense and 20 on special teams through the first two games of his pro career, operating as the No. 3 back in Washington behind Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic. Any hope for a large role this season likely involves an injury to one of those two, but it is possible Washington could give Patterson a few more carries throughout the year if he continues to impress in practice. For the time being, he'll focus on special teams, continuing Week 3 at Buffalo.
