Washington placed Gibson (hip) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday.
According to John Keim of ESPN.com, Gibson is vaccinated, which means he was placed on the list as a result of testing positive. He'll theoretically have a chance to play Sunday against the Eagles if he can test out of the protocol in rapid fashion, though the timing of his placement on the list makes that highly unlikely. With that in mind, Jaret Patterson could be in line to serve as Washington's lead option on the ground Week 17, with Jonathan Williams also factoring into the backfield mix.
