Gainwell carried the ball five times for 20 yards and caught four of eight targets for 41 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 33-22 loss to the Raiders.
Miles Sanders left the game late in the first quarter with an ankle injury, and Gainwell split the backfield workload roughly equally with Boston Scott for the rest of the afternoon, with Gainwell's nine touches topping Scott by one. Both backs also found the end zone -- Scott on the ground, Gainwell through the air -- and if Sanders is sidelined for a Week 8 road clash against the Lions, the duo could well operate in a timeshare again.
