Thompson signed with the Buccaneers' practice squad Thursday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
Thompson is a relatively high-profile signing by practice squad standards, considering he logged 26 games of regular-season action with the Chiefs over the last two campaigns, even drawing one start over that span. Thompson lost out on a roster spot this summer due to Kansas City's deep backfield, but the Utah State product will now garner a closer look from the defending champions.
