Head coach Jason Garrett said Monday that Elliott (suspension) will practice Tuesday rather than be in attendance at the U.S. District Court in Sherman, Texas, where his request for a temporary retraining order will be heard, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. "We're just going to prepare for the Giants, and Zeke will practice until someone tells him not to," Garrett said.
Elliott is using every tool at his disposal to delay the six-game suspension handed down by the NFL for violations of its personal conduct policy. Currently, his petition to vacate last week's still-to-be-determined arbitration ruling is pending, and Thursday included word of the temporary restraining order, which is calling upon Texas courts to block any ban upheld by arbitrator Harold Henderson. While the legal process plays itself out, Elliott will get ready for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Giants as he normally would. If an absence comes to pass, though, Darren McFadden, Alfred Morris and Rod Smith are waiting in the wings to earn touches behind the Cowboys' bulldozing offensive line.
