Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Mitchell (shoulder) is day-to-day, Josh Dubow of the Associated Press reports.
Mitchell left Sunday's contest late in the fourth quarter, but he was able to return and finish the contest. The rookie appears to be the lead back for San Francisco after Raheem Mostert underwent season-ending surgery after sustaining a knee injury in the season opener. Fellow running backs Trey Sermon (concussion) and JaMycal Hasty (ankle) both suffered injuries Sunday that will possibly keep them out Week 3, so the 49ers are looking at recently acquired Trenton Cannon as the only healthy running back on their roster. If Mitchell is able to suit up against the Packers, he should feast on what has been a subpar run defense in Green Bay over the past few years.
