Manager Aaron Boone said after Wednesday's 4-1 loss to Minnesota that Goldschmidt was unavailable off the bench due to a right knee injury, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports.
The Yankees are still in the process of evaluating Goldschmidt's injury, but the Yankees believe that the veteran first baseman is dealing with a low-grade sprain, per Brendan Kuty of The Athletic. Boone suggested that a stint on the injured list could be in the offing for Goldschmidt, which would likely result in Ben Rice settling in as New York's everyday first baseman and Austin Wells regaining the primary catcher role.
