Torres was benched during Friday's game against the Blue Jays for disciplinary reasons, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Torres took his time running to first base after he ripped a single into left field during the second inning, and he was later thrown out at home plate trying to score from first on an Anthony Volpe double. Torres remained in the game to field second base during the top of the third frame, but he was pulled following a conversation with manager Aaron Boone ahead of the fourth. The Yankees skipper said after the game that Torres' time on the bench will not extend into Saturday, per Chris Kirschner of The Athletic.
