Lopez (3-3) gave up seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and a walk over four innings Thursday to take the loss against the Angels. He had seven strikeouts.

The seven strikeouts matched his season high, but Lopez was otherwise ineffective in what was his worst start since joining the rotation back on Aug. 11. He gave up a pair of two-run homers to the light-hitting Luis Rengifo and Jose Rojas, and he needed 81 pitches to record only 12 outs. Chicago is going with a six-man rotation for the rest of the regular season, so Lopez is scheduled to face the Tigers on the road next week. He'll try to snap a skid of four straight starts without a victory.
